In IU's Love Wins All that you mention in the intro to her Killing Voice, you made the comment that IU was deaf in that video. And in fact she was not deaf but rather she was mute. Now why is that important? I will share that with you at the end. But first I wish to point out all the things in the video that show she is not deaf. 1- opening scene where they have stopped to catch their breath. IU is the first to react to the sound of the cube passing overhead. 2- inside the building as they are looking around IU and V both react at the exact sametime to the sound of the cube abo e them. A deaf person would not be reacting to any sound and would need to be told that the cube is present and where it is. 3- How do you let your audience know that a character on screen in a film that has no talking, know that one of the person's can speak or hear? When neither are detectable visually. Unlike V's eye which is visually detectable and through the camera lens it is OK. But how do you do that for hearing or speak. Well, you can do something that brings attention to the ear or mouth. Hence the use of the lip ring. Which also is not present when she is viewed through the lens of the camcorder. Now a a lip ring is a fashion stmt and therebis no need for it to disappear, unless the purpose ofvthe lip ring is to draw attention to her mouth and her inability to speak. 4- Another way is to have the person use something when being viewed the camera lens that someone with her issue could not or would not do. Hence, we see IU holding a microphone in the wedding scene and singing. This also suggest that she chase lost her voice relatively recently and that singing is something she to love to do. 5- now why is it important? Well IU has been having an issue with her left ear. I don't know what the condition is but what happens is that the tube leadingvfrom the inner ear to the throat doesn't close or doesn't close completely. Remaining open can become painful and it prevents her from hearing herself talk and sing which is highly important to a singer. I believe that IU wanted to prevent any rumors from starting that she was suggesting to her fans that her hearing was getting worst or that she was becoming deaf in her left ear. And so she pointed to her mouth with the lip ring, she used a microphone and she always reacted to the sound of the cube to make that point. I too initial was willing to go this the deaf aspect of the video, until I watched it a number of times.

Thank you for your reaction. Did you know about plagiarism allegations against IU? Her company deletes comparison videos and silences those tho raise their opinions. Even with Eight (collaboration with SUGA) she wrote the melody, which was plagiarized, copying CorSak's song called . (SUGA wrote the beat so did not plagiarize on his part).
