MAMAMOO KILLING VOICES - Reaction

Mamamoo are considered to be the vocal gold standard for kpop girl groups. This is a sampler of songs from their debut song in 2014 to their latest single in 2020 when the video was filmed. They've got dozens of MVs as a group and as soloists (each member has a successful solo career on the side) and there are hundreds of hours of great live videos too. Mamamoo is best when they're live because of their amazing, always live vocals, riveting stage presence and bff team chemistry. As you noticed, their discography is extremely diverse and this is just the tip of the iceberg - they've done everything from jazz, r&b, hip hop and latin pop to bossa nova, ballads, 60's soul tunes, funky dance tracks and more. As to the songwriters and beat makers, their songs are usually written by several staff songwriters & producers at their label RBW (Rainbowbridge World), often in collaboration with the MMM members and sometimes the members write & compose the songs, esp for their solo albums. These girls aren't just performers, they're involved in all creative aspects of their career including songwriting, composing, choreography, styling and MV concepts. Rapper Moonbyul writes almost all of her own rap verses and has the most songwriting credits among female idols (about 100). Moonbyul is not just a rapper btw - she's an excellent singer too and recently won a landslide victory on a competition tv show as the best singer among 8 very talented girl group rappers. Next to her was MMM's leader and eldest member Solar, the one with the pipes. She is sometimes called the main singer but she denies it and they're really an all-star group across the board. Next to Solar is Wheein, who stands out for her sweet as honey voice and r&b style. Wheein is considered to be the backbone of MMM's vocal line. On the far right is Hwasa, the youngest member, whose sultry voice makes everything she sings sound sexy. Hwasa's fierce and commanding stage presence makes her seem intimidating but she's a soft, cuddly furball at heart. Hwasa had a cold that day and her voice wasn't at its best but she still sounded very good. Mamamoo recently wrapped up the Asian leg of their first world tour and are reported to be coming to North & South America next. If they perform near you I highly recommend you jump on the rare opportunity to see them live in concert.

​@@amy_inglis a cold also I think this is around the time she released maria, she had very full schedule and almost snapped her back during that comeback season. (she admit the whole promotion of maria that time was unfortunately lip sync bcs the pain was too much for her to both dance and sing live so she prioritise the dance which were very demanding with all the backroll and stuffs when her back practically broke)

Wasn’t expecting this but thank you! Mamamoo are somehow underrated as hell even though they’re so talented, gorgeous and hard-working. They’re very much respected in the industry but these days people are too focused on the next new shiny thing and groups that don’t even release music anymore (you know who). Girl on the end is Hwasa. She's fire 🔥 I recommend her solos too like Maria, I'm a B and Twit. The one next to the rapper is Solar - her vocals are amazing indeed she's got solos too (they all do) like Honey - a great track I recommend it. Mamamoo like you picked up all have different vibes and styles yet they come together perfectly. There actually is no lead vocal in mamamoo. The one you called the lead singer is the leader of the group as in she’s in charge of certain decisions and responsibilities but all of them are lead vocals you’ll see it more in their solo projects or if you watch all their immortal song performances. Their ranges are fuckin crazy, even the rapper started as a vocalist but the company changed her roll. So talented they can’t even lip sync 😂😂 They also participate on the writings and makings of their songs. From left to right moonbyul-solar-wheein-hwasa. The songs they had lined up mainly highlighted solar and wheein higher notes but hwasa can belt, falsetto, go from chest to head voice ect. One of hwasas nicknames is ahn-yonce in korea bc vocally and entertainer wise she is the Korean beyonce type vibe. They are considered the vocal standard for Korean girl groups more artist than typical assembly line idol. They’re only underrated because their company is small and sucks and promo 😂

Rewatching, so It's probably been said Mamamoo is the REASON there IS a "Killing Voice", they were the FIRST. And it's one of the reasons it's so short. Before them it was The "Killing Verse" and featured ONLY Rappers. Speciffically "The Killing Voice" exists because of Solar. SOLAR(w/Mamamoo) wanted to join 'Killing Verse' but WASN'T accepted. So Dingo Music created 'Killing Voice' and Called MAMAMOO. Their video currently has the most Killing Voice views... we need a second one. LOL
