Ah, I also wanted to add. They’re under RBW Ent., and they were the company’s first group. They started out pretty much with no money and we’re still busking one the streets to promote after their debut. They also did their own choreo, hair, makeup, etc early on because of that. And their debut stage audience was pretty much only family and friends. I’ve heard less than 10 people. Their popularity with the Korean general population really took off after their appearance on Immortal Songs 2. Compare that to where they are now, and it’s just really an amazing story. :)

For someone who has only listened a few songs from them, you got it right when you said that they have some kind of a trademark in their music. As you start your journey in discovering their music, you'll see how diverse the genre their music has, but you'll know it's Mamamoo. I really love your comments about them. The "extras" and musicians credited in Mr. Ambiguous are all well-known artists/producers in their own right. Mamamoo are my favorite GG in K-Pop. Their company is RBW (Rainbow Bridge World), and ONEUS and ONEWE are their juniors in the company. (Give the ONEWE Regulus MV a listen, if you get a chance. Also their collab MV 'Q' with Hwasa.) I fell in love with Mamamoo's early work (Piano Man, You're the Best and Taller than You are some favorites), but they continue to grow while still keeping that Mamamoo sound. They were on Queendom, the GG version that came before Road to Kingdom, and the other groups all really respected and wanted to collaborate with them. Decalcomanie, Egotistic and Gogobebe are some other MV's worth checking out. They are also total crackheads, and you just can't help but love them.

also, they actually have a few mvs before "mr ambiguous". they had two pre-debut collab songs as a group, "peppermint chocolate" with k will and "don't be happy" with bumkey. though "don't be happy" is only really solar and wheein but includes moonbyul and hwasa in a post-song 'intro' to the group. hwasa also had a collab as a rapper before they debuted but no mv for that they also kind of had a second career on the side, the show 'immortal songs 2' (that 3 members of red velvet were on once, actually alongside mamamoo). that's a singing competition that idol groups rarely get invited to and those that do tend to only go 1-3 times. (individual members of groups, usually their main vocalists, tend to go more frequently). mamamoo have been on it 14 times over the years, with two year-long breaks. their first appearance was about 6 months after their debut and their second appearance was a month later. the program let them show vocal abilities that kpop artists are usually not able to in their field and it helped solidify the group as artists and singers to the korean public you definitely don't want to miss the 'immortal songs medley' that they performed at one of their concerts in 2016 (though the video uploaded is a lot more recent since the original got taken down), 11 minutes of them just singing a medley of a handful of the songs they'd performed on the show

They ooze confidence, but it's a well-earned confidence. From the start they've had to hear how they're too short to be idols, not pretty enough etc, and it's really their own strength of character and their bond with each other that kept them going. Now they're still getting those comments (as addressed in Hip), but they've also earned a ton of respect, both from the industry and the general public. "Performance" is basically what they call dance, so Byul and Wheein are what other groups might call their main/lead dancers. Technically, Wheein's name should be pronounced with the H sound at the beginning like Hwasa's (her name in Korean is 휘인 - "hwi-in"), but I don't think pretty much anyone actually pronounces it like that. And Hwasa was only 18 when MMM debuted (about a month before her 19th birthday); and you really _should_ check out her non-title tracks. Her Maria EP is _fantastic._

I love that you mentioned the confidence. I had seen gg before (mostly from fancams and my intro to kpop was Blackpink whom I found when I started to learn Korean) but none of them pulled me in because it felt very much like pageantry (which I love just not with music). But then I saw Egotistic and the confidence and charisma and strength they exuded really reeled me in. There's something very empowering about them. They're so natural and dorky--they feel in control of themselves and their sexuality and their art and that was just something I hadn't seen in ggs until them. (Of course, I can't say I've seen them all...I've been meaning to check out RV and G-Idle.) Anyway, I'm not even technically a MooMoo...more of a casual fan but I support them when I can. Wheein is my bias (but for this group you could pick a member of a hat and assign her to me and I'd be thrilled with the result).

In my Opinion Mamamoo is the strongest group in kpop, back then in the time they debut, i started to become a kpop fan and they were one of my first kpop groups. I just felt in love with there style. Definitely recommend taking the title tracks one by one and take suggestions from us for some b-sides that have videos because those really flesh out their discography to new fans! Oh I have so much to say, but first off I’m so glad that your finally reacting to my favorite girl group of all time. First off, for a short 12 minute guide that shows off their many talents then I suggest reacting to the Ultimate Mamamoo Introduction video. For a longer and more detailed as well as masterfully edited two part guide, then I suggest reacting to Introducing Mamamoo parts 1 and 2 by Purple Hawk which also details their personalities in depth. Now your mostly right, Mamamoo is known for their jazzy throwback sound and soulful vocals which you have seen in the three songs you know, and for more of that check out their songs Piano Man, You’re the Best and Decalcomanie, but Mamamoo is also very skilled at pulling off whatever concept they want to. To hear a side of them you haven’t heard before, check out their songs Egotistic, Starry Night, and Gogobebe which have more of a Latin feel, and fore a more laid-back sound check out their songs Wind Flower and Paint Me. Now, as some of the best vocalists in the industry, you will only get a taste of this through their mvs. You must react to Mamamoo live to fully grasp the height of their capabilities. I suggest reacting to Mamamoo Best Vocal Moments, Mamamoo Immortal Songs Medley, and Mamamoo Acapella Queens to hear some more of those harmonies that you love so much. oh, some aspects of those member guides you looked at seem to be a bit dated. just mentioning that because of the tattoo comment on moonbyul. she's actually got 6 now (possibly 7), hwasa also has 6 or 7 (it can be hard to tell if there's an actual tattoo on some of her fingers or it was drawn on for a while) and wheein is an ink addict with at least 11 tattoos (we keep expecting her to get more every time she gets more than a week of time off). solar is the only member without any tattoos and, while the other three would love to get a group tattoo together, none will try to force solar to do something she doesn't want to. however, they've all said that the second she goes 'hey, lets get a tattoo together' they'll drop everything and rush off to get them done instantly also, the 'close with seulgi' thing... that's kind of an understatement. mamamoo and red velvet have both said that the group they're closest to as a whole is each other. individual members might have closer individual friends from other groups (or solo artists) but as a whole, it's mamamoo and red velvet. early in their careers they noticed their vans were stopped side by side at a traffic light and they both forced their managers to pull over so they could exchange numbers. after that they used to hang out in the evenings when they had some semblance of time off, usually going pretty late into the night when rv would notice their 11 pm curfew was sneaking up and had to scamper back to their dorms sadly, the groups hav been so super busy in recent years that they haven't had a lot of time to spend time together as a whole, but members still hang out (esp byul and seulgi), go to each other's concerts and more. byul was even a guest on irene and seulgi's level up project, alongside joy. and byul and seulgi were in a project together, 'idol drama operation team' where members of multiple girl groups worked together to create and act in a drama based on their trainee day stories. seulgi was also the feature for moonbyul's solo song "selfish" and yeah, mamamoo doesn't use 'main' and 'lead' titles like most other kpop groups. everyone's just vocalist, rap and performance, other than solar, two out of that list (with solar's second being 'leader'), though all four members can, and do, do everything. moonbyul and wheein are the more dance-oriented members, so they're considered the performance line, even though until recently mamamoo hasn't really done heavy choreography (since it tends to mess with live singing... and until "gogobebe" they tended to make their own choreo)

Chronological order is best. Also, there is a small amount of songs that aren't on an album because they're ads. I would try to listen those songs with songs in the same year as them because they tend to match their concept at the time. Listening to even a fraction of Mamamoo is daunting because there are over 50 tracks, including solo projects and collabs. 😂

Mamamoo are icons in kpop. Everyone looks up to them. Mamamoo don’t have specific positions cuz all of them can sing dance and rap. Regardless they still have strength so they have basic positions: Solar: Leader, Vocalist -she is often considered the main vocalist in the group Often considered the: Leader, Main Vocal, Visual Moonbyul: Rapper, Performer performer is basically a dance position btw. Byul is actually a really great singer too. Often considered the : Main Rapper, Lead/Main Dancer, Sub-vocal, Visual Wheein: Vocalist, Performer often considered the best vocalist in mamamoo (along w/ solar) Amazing dancer Often considered the: Main/Lead Vocal, Main/Lead Dancer, Center (arguably) Hwasa: Vocalist, Rapper second best rapper after moonbyul Often considered the : Lead Rapper, Lead Vocalist, Face of the Group, Maknae Also Wheein is actually the least popular member in the group (😭). The reason she’s so loved is because she has the most likable personality, so all moomoos love her to death. Tho recently since Gogobebe and Hip era she has blown up/ gone viral so thats also why. Mamamoo are Known for their I C O N I C stage presence (especially hwasa) And they are also known for being GAY and LOUD and OBNOXIOUS. They are often considered the CraZieSt kpop gg rn (with GAYcatcher close behind) So crack compilation, funny moments, and guides are a must in order to get into them fully.
