What a way to get introduced to Mamamoo. As you can imagine they're generally considered to be the best currently active female vocal group in kpop and they're best when they're live because of their amazing vocals and riveting stage presence. They've been around since 2014 so there are lots of MVs and hours of live performances available for you. Fair warning: MMM is one of the deepest, wildest and wackiest rabbit holes in kpop and, as moomoos (MMM fans) like to say, Once you Wheein you can't Wheeout. 😉 You may be the first person to call Solar chill. lol Mamamoo are aka beagledols (beagle + idol) because they generally act like a litter of beagle puppies on a sugar high. Solar is the main crackhead in the group, to the point that one of her many nicknames is Yeba, a Korean slang word meaning pretty fool that was made by combining the first syllables of the words for pretty and stupid. But you're right, she's the voice in the MMM choir that lifts your soul to heaven and deposits you at the pearly gates. It's obvious that their voices have been marinating in r&b, soul, jazz and gospel sauce for many years and some of the singers they cite as influences or whose songs they've covered include Nancy Wilson, Whitney Houston, Beyonce, Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Kehlani, Celine Dion and Amy Winehouse. The only official position in the group is Solar as the leader, which may surprise you until you get to know her better. Solar's duality is more like a multiple personality disorder. They don't have a main singer or main dancer. Moonbyul is obviously the main rapper but Hwasa is also a member of the rap line and they all rap at times. They're considered to be an all-star group of four multi-talented women who could each be a solo artist and in fact they each have a successful solo career on the side. MMM is the only kpop group to have all members chart on Billboard as soloists while the group is still active (2NE1 did it after they disbanded). You can easily find a list of their MVs. Though bc of that she got more insecure for her vocals and i hate whoever said that to her. Moon Byul or MoonStar, as that is her nickname, is 27 and Wheein is also 25, just a few months older than Hwasa. As you might have seen, the girls have been around for six years going strong, and they have quite a big discography and didn’t even perform all of their title tracks in this amazing medley. It was mostly their debut song (Mr. Ambiguous), their most recent songs Aya and Dingga from this year, and then a scattering of their most popular tracks from 2016 (Decalcomanie and I Miss You), 2018 (Starry Night, Egotistic, and Wind Flower), and 2019 (Gogobebe and Hip). As I mentioned before, Solar has those strong powerhouse vocals, Moon is the official rapper but has some nice, warm and mellow vocals going for her as well, Wheein is known to be the bridge voice of Mamamoo, very stable, controlled, floaty and sweet as honey, and my ultimate bias Hwasa is known for her smoky, throaty, sensual and jazzy vocals. Though don’t let that fool you, Hwasa can jump up there and float into those high notes just as well as Wheein or be a powerhouse like Solar, and she’s even known as the secondary rapper of Mamamoo after Moon, though she hasn’t rapped as much in the last couple of years, she can still pull out that wicked ability when she wants to. All the girls have their own solo tracks that you should check out at some point to familiarize yourself with their personal styles. Hwasa’s most popular solos are Twit, Maria, Lmm which stands for Lost My Mind, and Be Calm. Wheein’s are Easy and 25, Solar’s is called Spit It Out and Moon’s is called Eclipse and Absence, but there is so much more. They’ve all done dance performance videos and song covers from American artists like Khalid, Kehlani, Harry Styles and Rihanna, and the list will just go on. Most people will want you to react to the two-part masterfully edited guide called Introducing Mamamoo by Purple Hawk, and each part is like 22 minutes and introduces two members at a time from oldest to youngest. So, part 1 is Solar and Moon, and part 2 is Wheein and Hwasa, the besties since middle school. The truth is that other Black K-Pop stans have been keeping Mamamoo a secret cuz they're the closest thing to an R&B group K-Pop has. 😂 I been stanning for almost 3 years and only just started openly talking about them. Part of it is that I know people are invested in knowing what the songs are about but in the words of Weird Al: "Just forget the words and sing along.". I love that you enjoyed Wind Flower because it's one of their less successful singles...for some reason. 🤷🏾‍♀️ Don't try to absorb too much about Mamamoo at once. They have 10 mini albums, 2 full albums, solo albums, commercial songs, collabs, and many, many OSTs. Like, I'm still finding songs I haven't heard on a weekly basis. I semi-recommend going in chronological order but truthfully as long as you know what year a song, MV, or stage happened you can get a general idea of the era. Pro-tip: Mamamoo always stands in the following order: Moonbyul, Solar, Wheein, and Hwasa.

Maybe it wasn't resolved to your satisfaction and if that's the case I'm sorry. Also, sometimes antis just make shit up and they apologize for things they didn't even do. 🤷🏾‍♀️ You'll notice that Mamamoo's scandals tend to be brought up during award season, which is happening now. I'm less sensitive about CA because I'm a media professional and see things in a bigger picture sort of way. Like, ask yourself the following questions before accusing idols of intentional CA: Was there clear, undeniable proof that malice was intended? What's the idols/groups level of education? Has the idol/group been exposed to foreigners in person or are they just abstract realities to them? Is the idol/group actually responsible for what happened? Did the idol's/group's company do anything before the incident to educate them on CA? It's easy to just brand them as evil and say "They should just know better." but if you want the idols to do the work of understanding your culture you have to do the work of understanding their culture. Black folks are harder on K-Pop idols and groups than they are on American pop stars and that is weird af to me. If we can't get American record executives here to stop letting White girls get box braids and singing in Blaccents it's ridiculous to expect Korean companies to do the same. We need to start being harder on companies and artists here. I haven't listened to Ariana Grande in years because of her Blackfishing for clout and I really enjoyed her music but I can't give her any streams or money. When other Black folks can have the same energy for American artists and the American music industry when it comes to CA I will consider unstanning Mamamoo. The only reason why Yong (Solar) seemed so "chill" in this video (which she is NOT AT ALL) is because she was extremely nervous about all the high notes she had to hit during this performance after not singing live at full capacity for so long due to COVID and due to the fact that (I don't know if you know this) MMM hadn't had a comeback in a year (AYA is their latest comeback, which came out on Nov 3, before that, they hadn't had a comeback as a group since HIP, which came out Nov 14 last year. They had Wanna Be Myself and Dingga, but Wannna Be Myself is a CF and Dingga a pre-release). So, yeah, she said she couldn't relax and fully enjoy the performance until HIP, but you can't really tell she's nervous AT ALL, all of them were and you just can't tell, because they're great performers. After you have watched some of their MVs, maybe you should watch Purple Hawke's Introducing Mamamoo video to get to know them better as artists and people.

OH and if you want to see more of them, a lot of people have already suggested that for a guide, Purple Hawk's Introducing Mamamoo is the most updated and best made. If you're looking for music videos, their most recent MVs are Dingga, Wanna Be Myself, and HIP, but a debut-era fan favorite would be Piano Man (or Mr. Ambiguous!). Each girl has their own solo albums with MVs too. And if you want more of their insane live vocals, basically anything from the Immortal Songs show would blow your mind. They won that show three times and some of the best performances are Immortal Songs Medley, Delilah, Backwoods, Wonderful Confession, The Way To Sampo...the list goes on. Those are all covers, though, and I Miss You or I Love Too would be great songs of theirs to see.

They are all CRAZY Crazy talented, and crazy crazy, extremelly funny, they have a great chemistry too, Wheein and Hwasa are best friend since middle school, they went to Seoul to do auditions, they shared the same dream since young age, they even have 2 matching tatoos, Solar and Moon are always together, and supporting each other, Moon even went to a desert island with Solar cause Solar wanted to go and Moon didn't want her being alone there, they are always taking care of the youngest (Wheein and Hwasa) as if they were babies, they are all so cute together and they really love each other Hwasa said once that she almost cried when they came back from vacation, cause she missed all of them being together so much. They are the hidden gem of South Korea, probably one of the most talented and autentic group out there! And you were right... Moon > Solar > Wheein > Hwasa They are almost always in this formation. "why have I it listening to them yet?" Same here! The answer (in my own opinion) is their management was still too small to promote them into international market. Unlike SM, JYP, or YG who may already know how to approach/engage with American management. (The rest of the comment is my background why I can think this way, you can skip it) I'm from Indonesia and I know K-Pop since BoA. My taste changed (into bands, and other music from other countries) but still hear some K-Pop groups (SuJu, Big Bang, Brown Eyed Girls, Twice, Exo, GOT7, 2NE1, Black Pink, even BTS before they go International etc, but not a Stan) some recommendation from friends are the solo or not idol projects. Around 3 months ago, I know Hwasa who collabs with Hyori in Refund Sister, then I start to wondered why I haven't heard of this group? I'm not into dance or music video, but I know Twice or Big Bang. It seems ridiculous I don't know them, knowing their vocal and genre is similar to my American music playlist. Then I dive deeper, and I found that the company is not as big as the big trio. So I have to say that thanks to Hwasa I now know Mamamoo ❤️

Mamamoo is known to be Vocal Queens of SK. They never disappoint in vocals and live performance They have a saying BeLisMamoo = Believe and Listen to Mamamoo. Its a must to get a good info about each member I suggest you go on Chronological order for MV reaction so you can see their growth as Artists. All 4 of them are successful Soloists which is a rarity for girl groups. Just a little background Mamamoo is composed of 4 singers, 4 dancers, 4 all around performers, 4 rappers and 4 beagles/crackheads. Loll I love when you kept repeating parts in Wind Flower, it's my favorite song! Any of the MVs for these songs would be a good start (though I Miss You doesn't have a MV, the live performance is soul shaking). If you want to guarantee captions, watch the MV from MAMAMOO's official channel instead of 1theK or Stone Entertainment (which is like Korean VEVO). It's never on the first page of results though, so go to Mamamoo's channel first and find the song there! I highly recommend mamamoo's immortal songs medley for their vocals flex Or mamamoo's 2018/19 MAMA stages cause their performance are legendary And, you can watch guide for mamamoo's pt 1 n 2 (the 3rd will following) by purplehawke so you can know their personalities, I bet you gonna love the girls even more. You better check there solo songs and albums. Aside of Hwasa Solar, Wheein and Moonbyul have a great solo songs and albums as well. 1. Solar - Spit it out and emotion album 2. Wheein - Goodbye, anymore and magnolia album 3. Moonbyul - Eclipse, selfish and darkside of the moon album 4. Hwasa - Twit and Maria album They do have so many solo songs and group songs. Mamamoo won the MAMA Awards 2020 as best singer group, so them being the powerhouse is (still) very legit :)) I admit, Hwasa is the member who stands out when you come across Mamamoo listening to the radio or something, but Wheein is (said by her colleagues as well) the backbone of the group and 6:38 she just sings this note (and also did during their live stages) effortless and her Solo tracks are glowing. Solar shines thru her powerful and stable voice and actually she´s the Main Vocalist of the group. Critics say, that she sometimes tends to "scream" but she has worked on her technique a lot and thru the year sshe really mastered it well. Moon (aka. everyone is gay for Moon) was a trained vocalist but sadly was kind of "forced" to become the rapper of the group. So she nails both :D tltr: the fandom can´t pick a bias. All four had their solos and they don´t outshine anyone else. Stan all four

I am doing this to help other people with it. As far as pronunciation goes: Solar - Think of it as the solar system. Moonbyul - Obviously the first part of her name is like the actual moon. The second part is Bee + You’ll Wheein - Think of a roller coaster when it comes down the track and people scream “Wee”. The second part is when you enter into something. Hwasa - You’re aware of her already and pronounced her name correctly.
