I'm sure most of you have had tea cakes that your grandmother made. I think I can smell them cooking if I think hard enough. Tea cakes were made often because most people had flour, sugar, eggs, and butter. I did use melted butter but I believe most just use the softened butter. I think the melted make it easier to work with. My daughter, Amy, had a cookie-cutter of the state of Alabama tied to my Christmas present so I used it for these tea cakes. I love it and it's an added bonus that the tea cakes are bigger.
