Freddie is a great Dancer now as well as back then..There are so many Dancers in this world and to say one wouldn't be good or bad because of the other is pretty extreme..You need to stop having all this hate for your own well being..

Mike Ramos (izquierda) sigue siendo el mejor bailarin, lo mejor que tuvo el gran combo.

FROCKS,I mean that I WAS there. I took a lot of those trips to the Catskills, the Peekskills, etc. I was a little boy, but those memories are etched into my memory forever. I remember meeting, Tito Puente, Machito and all of the heavyweights. You are mistaking a passion for justice as hate and anger. Freddie may have told YOU these stories, but in public, he has ONLY reffered to my dad as an INSTRUCTOR at the Palladium, not as his partner.

I respect what these guys do. I know Freddie personally. He has a negative attitude as to how the dance has evolved. He shuns anything to do with the more energetic style of dance patterns and fast spins as well as more complexed foot work. All these require training, precision and great timing. Not only that but they have been doing the same dance routines for ever. You do not grow if you do not challenge yourself. I not only embrace his style but I dance it as well as the more modern style.

Mr Rios has had to put himself out there time and time again because other people fail to recognize him also..He's 72 years old and refuses to call it quits..and trust me when I tell you he has spoken about your dad numerous times..I heard about all the wonderful trips He and took to the Catskills and how great they once were..Anyway so much time has passed I wish this could be resolved someway..Who knows how much time Freddie has..

I've seen interviews where Freddie mentions Joe.Freddie used to watch your Dad at the Palladium and liked the way he danced they hooked up but Freddie made 90% or more of the routines.He "learned" from guys like Andy Jerrick and Anibal Vazquez.They were more his "Style".It took Freddie many many years to get where he is now.Don't try to take that away.Because he's still going He has to be considered one if not the best in the world.If your Dad was still around I'm sure he'd be up there too.

I've heard him speak about Joe many times if I find something in print or video I will pass it on, and Yes I've also heard of him being so much younger than your Dad and watching him and the others dance at the Palladium and going home and practice..I've even heard of him speak about you and your mom..he was supposed to get in touch w/ her..He's been wanting Pictures of him and Joe for the longest time..

I applaud Freddie for being 72 and still dancing. Now consider this. You say that Freddie made up those routines. My dad would be 86 if he was still alive. Now do you REALLY think that a grown man who was already established as a great dancer before Freddie ever showed his face at the Palladium would play a backseat role to a newcomer? That would be like Tito Puente taking the role as Marc Anthony's percussionist.

I feel the need to comment. Hopefully everyone will be understand where I'm coming from. I happen to be the son of Joe Vega, one of the TRUE Palladium Legends. He has been mentioned by various journalists as one of the "Palladium 5." Freddie learned EVERYTHING he knows from my father and never once has Freddie credited my dad as a partner or one of the most celebrated dancers of that era. To him.. I say this.. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF !! Karma comes back to you Freddie...

Todavía sigue vivo. 89 años y contando. Este año 2023 hizo una presentación en New York y todavía le queda gasolina en el tanque.

At the end of the day FROCKS, it's VERY easy to take credit for something when the person who created it has been dead for more than 30 years. All I want is for Freddie to be HONEST and give my father, IN PUBLIC, the credit he deserves. It's a shame that so many people from those days are dead, because they would CERTAINLY clear this story up. You sound like a friend defending a friend, without having prior knowledge of the situation.

You can see where Tito Ortos gets his inspiration! :D These guys are just great, talk about feeling! If I can dance even 10% of what these guys does when Im in there age I'll be more than happy :D

Frocks.. my mother has been listed in the phone book since my father died... 33 years ago. We ran into him in 1990 at a reunion gathering at Club Broadway. That was the last we saw or heard of him. Again, my problem is not Freddie enjoying his success. It doesn't matter what he SAYS in conversation. It's what he says in public, in his interviews. My father's name should be mentioned as a DANCER, as his PARTNER, not as a mere instructor. Comprende?

Mega when you say you were there what exactly do you mean?...I'm not trying to take away anything your Dad did but Just give Mr Rios some credit...He's trying to keep this Palladium Mambo thing alive..He fought his way up when many people tried to keep him down..
@megavega417 жыл бұрын
The ONLY reason Freddie is where he is now is because my father died. If you know your history, we just lost Millie Donay, who was another legend and a consultant from the movie "Mambo Kings." She laughed when she saw the interview with Freddie. If the dead could speak, she would set you straight. It's a shame when people have to twist the truth to make themself shine.

FROCKS,I have an advantage over you. I WAS THERE! You weren't. If you want to know who made up most of the routines,ask one of the REAL legends of the day, like Cuban Pete. I saw the interview he did where he mentioned my dad. He called him an INSTRUCTOR at the Palladium, not one of the principal dancers. As I stated, my dad was mentioned in SEVERAL articles as one of the Palladium 5. If Freddie was one of the best, he would have been mentioned back then as well.

Eddie Torres aprende de los grandes...no con la misma coreografía q hace Eddie Torres.
