WOW....shout out and props Esoterica. You're definitely the man when it comes to showcasing these rare arcade games that would otherwise get ZERO attention. I remember reading about Winding Heat and Midnight Run in either GamePro or EGM like, oh...I dunno...30 years ago lol? Never thought I'd see the day those two insanely obscure arcade racers would be mentioned in a video with footage running the games. Crazy world we live in.

@@VideoGameEsoterica That sounds fun! Macs might not be known for their gaming prowess, but most of the major emulators run well on them due to their open-source nature. MAME (of course), Ares (preferably with the Metal video driver), MelonDS, PPSSPP, Dolphin, Flycast, PCSX2, Cemu and even RPCS3 all work to varying degrees of pretty good! On top of that, most of 8Bitdo's catalog of controllers are also compatible.

I wish someone out there would brave the Konami voxel generating board and get Racin' Hero emulated. I wouldn't say it's a great game, but it's certainly one of the most unique, technologically speaking, for arcade games. It's been waiting on the voxel part of t he ground display chip/baord/etc. to get it's data right (or at all, cause the emulation shows the ground just gone)...

i see twitchy analogue controls on mame videos all the time, I think it needs some sort of internal 'virtual' wheel that the controller can map to - but NOT 1:1, more like a modern racing game does with configurable settings for turn rates, damping, how fast it responds to opposite lock etc. Some games even reduce turn rates based on the car speed (faster = slower turning) which would be nice but would require hooks into the emulated game to find that so a bit harder to implement but even the basics would be a nice start.
