Well that is true. The whole theme I setup here in this video doesn't really take a specific either or stance on the matter. I'm just trying to convey that there really is no better alternative b/c whoever is desperate enough can cheat on anything. The whole reason why I got into uploading my gameplay videos onto youtube was not to compete with other gamers videos but to actually help out support the classic scene and contribute tactics and strategy.

interesting but would be nice if you could make a video showing how you study your games b4 you do your runs and explain your style.

My style just isn't built completely on speedrunning. I just find it more interesting to break a game apart and practice it and record myself doing a run of it in the same way I would approach playing said game every time. Speedrunning is more "luck" based and who can get the fastest WR times and for a lot of games u can't achieve fastest time every play thru. It still takes a lot of skill and I respect it. ;) Games like Metroid tho for example I've done was also luck based with no hits

I agree with everything you said! Look what is possible with super mario bros with legit speedrun times of 4:58.

my opinion on this is as follows > if people don't like someone's videos then just don't watch them. I agree with this video in every way. I am going to favorite this on my channel and hope that it gets more views. It takes wayyy more time and effort to play skillfully than it does to make random let's plays like annoying kids do with high pitched voices and then to watch them die recklessly over, and over again.

Valuable movie. So the only way is to trust an uploader. I watch the movies only from the channels that I trust they are legit such as yours or replay burners. I wonder how Speed Demos Archive verifies the stuff is played on a real console. The thing that bothers me the most is autofire usage. What autofire can do in for example arcade games is just sick (robocop 2, cabal). What about Art of fighting - completing ice smash bonus increases your life gauge. The harder the difficulty setting, more button taps are required to achieve a goal. If someone is using autofire , he can just hold a button while drinking hot cocoa and have guaranteed success. :(

Autofire isn't cheating. Its banned from certain competitions because it can give an boost on high scores just by holding down a button. Some people see it as being lazy but that is not the case because you still have to have a lot of skill to master games. However, the entire point in high score runs is to obtain the highest score possible so it should be allowed much like the use of glitches are allowed in speedrunning competitions at Speed Demos Archive. The reason why I like Scarlett's videos is because he doesn't try to do the minimum to pump out average 1 credit clears and instead he goes full force. The reason why videos like this are not popular is because people don't want to see the truth they either just want to be entertained by watching super plays or they want to be jealous and claim someone is cheating when they are not.

chaddawson4890 I didn't say it is cheating. It just gives unfair advantage which was not planned by game's authors. I like the rule in japanese shmup runs for points - there are categories for auto fire and non - auto fire. I like Scarlett's videos which are exceptional indeed.

SCOOPARCADE I have spoken with Scarlett before back when he was streaming on his twitch account, although he streamed very few times more or less a private person is what I got out of him. That guy had an amazing amount of stamina it seemed...... o.O I saw him do back to back deathless runs for 6 hours straight without stopping. Although he did die once on raiden and zelda 2 but started both games over and then succeeded which is fine. They are both hard games and giving the fact most speedrunners restart games over from the beginning numerous times he did a great job. I do not think he plays for high scores or speedruns though.

Exactly, heh. Too many people judging games they know shit about.

***** Not really. More people cheat on consoles than anything. It is very easy for example to upload an aimbot through a USB on an xbox 360 and use autoaim on FPS. There are many other ways to cheat to. It just involves using google to find such methods. Just because you find emulators to be more accessible to cheat on doesn't mean that a console player who has to follow through a couple extra steps to cheat would be too lazy to cheat. Its really not that hard. It also takes very little effort to go on someone elses videos and call them a cheat when the accuser has no proof.

I was always curious what feeling has a cheater when he succeeds - it probably is something like emptiness and far from satisfaction.
@chaddawson-dt7fo10 жыл бұрын
SCOOPARCADE There is no satisfaction from cheating but when a pro goes through the trouble to upload replay files for a few games I would be inclined to trust the author plus it helps if you live stream your games. I think scarlett should make a comeback and submit records to twin galaxies or marps. When I watched his Crime City run, it proved to me that he beat the worlds top players in that game with raw skill. If he put effort into speedrunning I think he could easily secure himself a few arcade world records.
