While reading some of the comments, I see that some of you would like to have an english translation of the song. I can totally understand your plight as did my old friend from Nagaland ages ago. Apologies though that I am not a poet nor a song writer, and definitely not an expert in archaic mizo language. Nonetheless, I hope my attempt will somehow highlight some bits and pieces of the emotions etched into this timeless gem of a song. Please enjoy the song and continue to follow mizo melody and culture. FIRST VERSE Aw ka Suihlung len O my Sweet heart/lover (‘Suihlung len’ is a poetic phrase used for a person you yearn for) Nangnen buan ang pawma hlimlai ni, Those happy days we embrace(passionately) each other, Nghilh a har aw ka ENCHIM LOH; They are not easy to be erased (from memory), my dear/love (‘Enchimloh’ is a poetic word used to describe a person so sweet that you cannot take your eyes off of him/her. Also used for one’s children) Eng an nang kher ka lo tawn che, Ngaihlungrun pui Why did our paths even crossed, You heart breaker (Or literally - why does it have to be you, whom i’ve met, You heart breaker) mahse sam ang Then zai I rel si maw. But then you’ve made up your mind to part ways. (‘sam ang then’ is a phrase which literally means to part the hair at the scalp. It is used as a simile to denote the act of parting/breaking up) CHORUS Aw ka suihlung len O my sweet heart ka tuar an a na chuang ngei e; This pain is too much for me to handle/endure Lung ka chhir ngei e, (Now) my heart is filled with regret/sorrow Bawihte, nang vang hian. its because of you, my dear Sut leh tur hian ka mawi ve silo, Rinawm kan tiam zawng kha; As for me I cannot take back/ forswear, the vows that we have made; (breaking ones vow or oath is considered a very dishonourable thing to do in Zo society) Kumsul ang liam in khuarei chang se, I can only wish they pass, like the seasons/years and become a distant memory Ka suihlung len. My sweet heart SECOND VERSE A na em e, puan ang min hnawl, It is so painful that you have cast me aside (‘puan ang hnawl’ literally means to be cast aside like a piece of cloth). I zun ngaih lunglen, ka bang thei lo; My heart pines for your love, it cannot be stopped. Sulhnu nunhlui leh, kan tuanna leh mual zawng te; The memories we’ve made, the places and hills that we’ve roamed Fan leh ka nuam ngei e, lungrun pui I long to go back/revisit them again, you Heart breaker BRIDGE Nuihiau sakhmel leh Chhingmit tui nen; With a face full of smile and eyes all in tears Lam ang let leh che, please come running back to me (Literally dance/circle back to me) Chutin duhten buan ang; And then I will take hold of you Ka pawm vawng vawng nang che. I'm a Meitei and I used to listen to this song and other Mizo songs a lot in my school days. Had a lot of Mizo friends, we used to eat together and sing together. But because of this ethnic conflict in Manipur caused by few communal leaders from both sides, I couldn't contact or visit my friend who passed away in Aizawl in June 23'. The world has been cruel, you have been set free finally. Rest in peace my dear brother, Jacob. Will always remember #23

I'm here only because of my mizo friends. Also I've never heard of any misao Mizos. I've been around many Mizos who usually have lal, puia/pui, awma, fanai , pachuau, chaakchuak, valte, varte, ralte chongthu, hmar, kima, sailo etc in their names. The misaos I know like to call themselves Kuki from Manipur. Maybe you're from Mizoram idk you. But yes, let peace prevail.

@@zechmisao2602 The Meiteis in Imphal are "living their days" just as much as those Kukis in Churachandpur. And please, I have many friends who are "Valte" from Mizoram and call themselves Mizo. It's mostly due to the fact that they're born in Mizoram. I know there are Valte's in Manipur too, but they consider themselves Zomi's or KUKI's or other nomanclature. And I also know how much the KUKI's in Manipur want to be Mizo, or how much they want to associate with the Mizo identity(heard from KUKI's/Zomi friends of Manipur themselves). But most of them don't even know Mizo language(lingua franca of Mizoram) even though few words are intelligible. No hate tho, you do you. Peace ✌️

But I do not agree with you about the Mizo Identity... Unlike The Nagaland Nagas who do not accept the Nagas of Manipur when the Nagas of Manipur want to be associated with the Nagas of Nagaland, it is the opposite for Mizoram and Kukis/Zo of Manipur... The Mizo of Mizoram has been trying to create relation with the Zo/Kuki of Manipur, it is the Mizos of Mizoram who welcomes the Kuki and claims them as their own... while the Kuki doesn't bother much about Mizo...however this conflict has taught the Kuki/Zo of Manipur a lesson, they have come to us and they will never go back... we are all Mizo... ..... By the way, I am Hmar from Mizoram, Hmar are the majority Zo tribe in Mizoram and Assam, and the 3rd Majority Zo tribe in Manipur.
