Beautiful video! I agree with you living in less that ideal landscaped areas, I have learned to love the more details of the area, whether it be macro or just finding interesting things to photograph in the area close to my house. Local municipal parks, town parks or state parks are great places to photograph!

I live near Portland Oregon and there is so much it's almost overwhelming with so much to take pictures of I find myself trying to get an epic shot and spend a lot of time and money chasing that. I go back to Illinois occasionally and find it more relaxing to slow down and look at the details and there is a lot to photograph no matter where you live there are great photos just around the corner

I have been in the upper peninsula of Michigan near Munising. You have a lot to photograph. You do have a lot of mushrooms in the forests and a lot of waterfalls. Have you been on the picture rock cruise by Munising. In the winter you have a lot of snow cover. There is a lot to discover with color film. I used to own a Mamiyaflex C220 with a 180mm lens.

The UP is beautiful for sure. I currently live in the Lower Peninsula across the river from Canada. I have been to Pictured Rocks, but have not been on the cruise. Thanks for watching.

Thanks so much. Yes, I flew beyond both the drone’s and my capabilities. RIP, drone. Maybe instead of “Buy me a Coffee,” I need “Buy me a Drone!” 🤣🤣 Thanks. I hope to do many more vlogs exploring and demonstrating the C220. I absolutely love medium format film photography.

Thanks Jim, I've been watching your channel for just under a year, it's interesting to see the way content changes over time, the thing i remember about your channel was the fantastic landscape locations you visited and the recent road trips, I avoid making gear videos with a passion, I know lots of people watch them! I'm just throwing in my 10 cents, "bring back the landscapes and your pretty wife"! I know your good at the gear Vids. Wow 04:11 is amazing! Thanks Jim

Thanks so much, Tony. I’d love to do more traveling and landscape vlogs with my beautiful wife, but we have no travels planned in the near future. We are making some long term plans for MANY more travel vlogs, but that’s a year or two away. 🙁 Like so many, I’ve (re)discovered film photography. With the acquisition of this Mamiya C220, I’m scheduling quite a few videos about film over the next year. Thanks for your support.

Thanks for a great video. Over the years I found that when I was trying to capture scenes on the dark side I got the best results using chromes because their latitude is the opposite of negative film. They don't like over exposure but a little bit of under was fine and you still got detail in the dark areas. Could get some nice moody results that way.

Have you ever found the need to use the paramender for this camera when taken macro photos with the tripod? Also, what brand and mode of light are you using? Thanks for your videos. They are very informative
@VintageInsightPhotography3 жыл бұрын
Truth be told, you witnessed the first time I did close up work with the C220! 🤣🤣 I’ve never used a paramender, even when I was in photography/graphics school in the 1970’s. I had a small Lewinner RGB light with me. I reviewed it in an earlier video. Thanks so much for your kind words. I do really enjoy putting these videos together. Take care!

I've been waiting for this video for a while for a couple of reasons....first, to see the images this camera produces. Second, to see you back out in the field taking photos again. Well worth the wait. Loved the images. Definitely would like to see another video done with for film. Great drone footage as well! Really enjoyed it Jim!

Thanks, Paul. Life has been definitely getting in the way of making videos. I needed a mental health day, and this was the result! The drone is a game changer for B-Roll. I had no idea how versatile it would be! I will be doing more with the Mamiya TLR... that roll of Fomapan has been sitting in the camera since I loaded it the first week of August (for the _How to Load 120 Film_ video)! Thanks again for your kind words. Take care my friend.

Tastefully done, inspirational but I'm confused that you do not use a tripod, stop the lens down and use slower shutter speeds.

Hi, I am new to my Mamiya C330 and don't quite get the parallax thing ... So if I am focussed in near to my subject, the line comes down to show me the top of the image right? So I have to recompose (tilting the lens upwards) to get everything in the shot that I initially intended to? Do I understand that correctly? So focused in tightly, you never are 100% sure that all is in the image then?
@VintageInsightPhotography2 жыл бұрын
That’s pretty much correct. It’s better if you can raise rather than tilt the camera. Because of the shallow depth of field, tilting the camera will change the focal point. To put it another way, the distance from the lens to the subject must be the same for both lenses to insure correct focus. The C330 is a great camera. Have fun with your new treasure!
