The shutter timing on this 80mm f/2.8 Mamiya-Sekor TLR lens would not function correctly. Here is how I fixed mine. If you wish to try this yourself, it is not difficult but do so at your own risk.

What liquid dripped on the shutter blade? Would it have been better to absorb it instead of letting it evaporate? It did discolor the bluing on the blade.

That drop on shutter blade left a film. Would it be better to absorb it right away instead of letting it evaporate?😢

Thanks a lot for this video, I have a 105mm F3.5 that had a ridiculously sticky clockwork mechanism. Very clear on what needed to be done and now it works perfectly.

What do I do if there is oil on the shutter blades

The best, most clear tear-down and fix that I've seen. Thank you.

A great video on this topic ! I may have missed it, but what oil are you using? Thanks !

I just used a very light machine oil. I didn’t have any issues with it but a proper clockwork movement oil would probably be more advisable.

very good job. best shutter fix video i have eer seen. Hoping my Mamiya C3 (arriving next week from Japan) won't need me to do this. looks fiddly !

It’s not terrible but it’s not something that you’d want to do often.

Hi, greetings from Cuba. A quick question, how do you remove the rear element of the lens? Im doing a service on the same lens but the mamiya c220 version. It would be a great help to know how to remove it.

I believe you will need a spanner wrench to loosen a jam nut.

Can you link the small screwdriver bits that you used/where you recommend to purchase? Tutorial is super helpful, I have a Mamiya C220 with a shutter that needs fixing!

It was a gift that I received so I don’t have a link unfortunately, sorry! You can find a lot of these kits on ebay and other online retailers. Look up precision screw driver set, that should get you pretty close.

Great video thanks. Some people say to stay away from the chrome lenses because they are older and you can’t get parts anymore. What’s your experience? It looks like a very serviceable shutter to me.

I’m skeptical of what parts you could fine anyway but I’ve never really looked. I feel like finding a donor lens assembly would be a better way to get parts.

I’ve gone through your tutorial and it’s helped to get all the pieces back in place. I am, however, having issues with the shutter even opening. Any advice?
@Casey_Schmidt Жыл бұрын
My approach is usually to take it back apart and put it back together. Even if I don’t figure out what the issue was, that will often result the issue. I know just enough about these lenses to do basic servicing like what I showed but I’m not an expert troubleshooter. They are quite simple mechanisms and there’s not much to go wrong. My guess is that you may have accidentally gotten something misaligned when putting everything back together. It’s easy to do. Hope this helps!

@@Casey_Schmidt well, the issue originally was the shutter wasn’t opening at all. When I opened it up, I noticed that a few things were not in the right place. I was thinking the blades need to be cleaned, but if you think one of the pieces is out of place and that’s why the blades aren’t opening then I can give that a shot.
