Back in the day we used to call that the "R-Beast". And while it is a big camera it is also a mechanical work of art. Congrats on the purchase! Phoenix, AZ

I feel the same about my Bronicas. I look at my S2A and I want to make photographs with it. To a slightly lesser extent, my ETR and SQ. I'd love to try out Bronica's 6x7 format but I don't have that kind of money. Great video.

Really love this! Just found your channel, you have such energy and I loved the comment about wondering what other images have been made with your camera. I resonate with that a lot. I have an old 4x5 camera from the late 40's and it's always something that is front of mind when I am using it.

I just brought my RB and my C220 out of retirement after 17 years.... I was shocked at film prices, but I guess it will help me be more selective in what I shoot.. Thanks for the video!!

The RB is one of my all-time favorites! Been using them since my Dad first brought his home from work for me to try out (it was his studio camera), and now I have a couple of them. It demands a lot of discipline, but the results are worth it. Cheers!

Another fun medium format camera is the Great Wall DF. The original 90/3.5 lens with its swirly blur is amazing. It's a 6x6. The cons are that it only has the one lens. It was really rare 15-20 years ago, I don't know now. The film can be almost impossible to get into the mag. The images are what count though and they look very pleasing.

Nice video with this amazing camera, I used 2 of them for commercial work like weddings from 1990 - 2005 with lenses from 50-360. I still have one - a SD from 1998 with 90 and 65 lenses and I will reactivate it a gain.

@@viewfindingsThanks for your answer! The 360 was an old Version without the "C" only Sekor , but the Quality was pretty good, I used it sometimes for portraits -modells on bikes or cars. But also for some aerial photography.

I'd love to hear more about TSA giving issues! that kinda makes me mad lol I love MF cameras and considered the RB67 but thought it was too big for MF. With the size of it, I'd rather go up to 4x5. I decided for Hasselbald 503cw. It's smaller but still give a nice 6x6 negative. If I were to go for a 6x7 camera, I'd go with the Mamiya 7ii range finder. It's really portable and give a that huge negative.

I use 50/90/180mm lenses on my RB67 for shooting landscapes, portraits, architecture, and social events. I also use a 140mm macro lens and extension tubes for closeups, product shots, and macro.

I might try the 180mm lens next when i can. Do you have a fave?
@Narsuitus4 ай бұрын
@@viewfindings Yes, the 180/90/50mm are my favorites. I actually have the following lenses for my RB67: 250mm (use for tight portraits) 180mm (use for head & shoulder portraits, weddings) 150mm soft focus (use for head & shoulder portraits) 140mm macro (use for macro, close-ups, still life, products) 90mm (use for general subjects, full-length portraits, 3/4 length portraits, weddings) 50mm (use for landscapes, panoramas, architecture, group portraits, weddings) 100-200mm zoom (use as backup lens)

Great to see Mamiya out and about. I began on film and shot jobs mostly with Mamiya RZ67 and Pentax67 and Sinar P2 (4x5). Even with travel jobs I'd carry these bodies around (and I traveled globally) and usually felt knocked out at the end of the week. These bodies are so cumbersome compared to lightweight digital gear today. But the process with shooting film demanded a different viewpoint and process and the favorites from back then really shine compared to what I get today with my digital setups. And these bodies were available from Mamiya till 2010...! You can probably buy a relatively cheap prism viewfinder if you think the waist level viewfinder is a barrier to getting the pics you want. But it does add more weight to the body. I still have my Mamiya RZ body and lenses and now I want to go out and shoot some film...!

Thank you so much for sharing this! I hope to get a viewfinder one of these days. I'd like to try out the Pentax67 since it's an SLR. I hope you enjoy being back out their shooting film- Happy photographing!

congrats on getting your rb. they are monsters, but glorious beasts. have fun with it. just don't do what i did once...i loaded a lens on the body when it wasn't cocked. it jammed it! make sure to download the manual, if yours didn't come with one. there are a lot of (forgettable) steps that can ruin your day. lol and you'll won't fully be a member of the rb club once you take a shot without removing the darkslide. :)

I think it's lovely for portraiture. The lenses don't have enough contrast for my purposes. I'd go Bronica, or Hasselblad if I had the money.

Nice! I love my RB67 Pro S (I think the same model as yours). Do yourself a big favor and try to pick up a variety of focal length lenses, and the two extension tubes if you like macro work. Also, a diagonal split center focusing screen from Rick Oleson (Bright Screen) will amaze you! They are well worth the hundred bucks. Happy filming!

That focusing screen sounds amazing. I'll have to look into that. Also interested in macro work. Thank you for the tips.

They are indeed wonderful cameras. Big and a little awkward at times but the images are just fantastic. The only thing I have a problem with and it is my problem not the camera and that is I forget to check the bellows extension and add that to the exposure. That does lead to some underexposure and color print film hates to be underexposed.
@viewfindings4 ай бұрын
Yes the image is unmatched and I’m making a note to look into “bellows extension”

You should consider using many accessories 3D print or official. I take a Panoramic 3D print with the prism attachments on a recent trip and it's real clean and an experience to use it. Got many eyes but what do you expect from a studio camera lol. P.s get a tripod. You going to break your back. A friend of mine did 💀
