Theatre can be insanley monotonousin for everyone envolved with the show. People tend to adapt quickly and can go from nearly falling asleep super chilled to sprinting about tying to erect a building on stage in less than 30 seconds. Then they go right back to nearly falling asleep. Atleast thats my experience with theatre haha

So on "Thank you for the music" why is the acoustic guitar part being played on keyboards when there is a gituar player with an acoustic gituar in the back??. 🤔
@unarmedhihat40773 жыл бұрын
Because the way this show is written, the first piano part is supposed to be played by the pit director, so the part is written such that the on stage performer and the first piano can see each other and follow each other, then being the only two people making sound. UNFORTUNATELY, this is a high school, and our director doesn’t play piano, but he is playing guitar if you see the top right corner. We figured that would be easier than having to copy several pages of sheet music, or shuffling books mid performance.

Terrible. No one bothered to program the keyboards with the correct instrument sounds. That’s why it doesn’t sound as full as other overtures. The sad thing is that all the proper instruments are there. Someone just didn’t do their job.
@CH-nb9yy3 жыл бұрын
That "someone" probably doesn't exist, as this is a high school production. I actually have the same Yamaha keyboard as they are using in this particular show, and the patch options on this particular model aren't really expansive enough to cover all the sounds for "Mamma Mia". It would require some technical knowledge to hook this type of keyboard up to a computer running Mainstage or something like that. It looks like the young musicians did their best, seeing how they were selecting some of the patches already on the keyboard.
@matthewfletcher42653 жыл бұрын
@@CH-nb9yy True. RMS keyboards offers this musical with all the patches programmed, but it's $435. They could have ran all the keyboards through one macbook and not changed their setup at all. It definitely would have made the keyboard parts sound way cooler (they're playing great) but it's not always in the budget.
@matthewfletcher42653 жыл бұрын
Programming all the patches by yourself would take so long, there's literally 117 patches for keyboard 3 by itself. These keyboards also don't have the capability to do all of them (they're changing to the onboard instruments that they have, but these kind of performance keyboards definitely don't have all the synth sounds the musical calls for). They could run it through mainstage but that would be pricey and still a pain to set up, or, RMS keyboards offers the patches for this musical preset for you. It's $435 but you can run all 4 keyboards through one macbook, and switch through the patches in order with the bottom two keys on each keyboard. I just got my director to agree to pay for that for our production and it's a huge relief, because trying to do it myself would have been a nightmare. I might still program a couple of the coolest lead parts for my axsynth keytar though, since he's putting us on stage (in the back, like we're the taverna live band) and I want to be a legend...
