@@MammaG heyyyy I tried it ! I used cinnamon, sage and just for fun and to make it a little more quantity wise instead of adding saw dust I added hamster bedding cuz I have a hamster an it works fine! You might want to make sure that the bedding is finely cut cause mine was a little big. And it wouldn’t hold as well. But the ones that did turned out awesome. Also ps: don’t judge me cause I used hamster bedding lmao I just became spontaneous all of a sudden. So yes this works so definitely try it out!! @MammaG2 жыл бұрын
@@magickpotionsnature5580 ... I haven't used xanthan gum before, but I found this on theincensedragon.com website ... "A typical incense recipe will use just 1/8 teaspoon of binder for every 2 Tablespoons of material. Because of their strength, adding too much gum binder to a recipe can cause it to bind so strongly it can't burn." So is it possible you used too much gum?

Can you add aroma oils instead of water?
@MammaG3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your query, Gail. I would try adding a few drops to a small batch first, rather than completely swapping the water for oil. Possibly even add the oil to the wood shavings, then mix in some water. See how that goes. If all good, then increase the oil in the next batch and reduce the water further ... a bit of trial and error. I'm not sure how flammable the oil would be, so best to start with a smaller amount.

This video was very informative but curious about using the sawdust. Not sure how other cones are made but if you shouldn't breathe in the sawdust as you are making it why do you want to breathe it in as you are burning it?
@Mates10yrs3 жыл бұрын
And I am still going to try your recipe as it really was a great video - meaning no disrespect - was just curious
@MammaG3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your query, Mates10yrs. It's more to do with not breathing in the wood particles of sawdust into your lungs when it's in its raw form. When it burns, the wood particles are transmuted into smoke, so they are no longer like tiny splinters of wood :)

Could I replace the saw dust with sandalwood?
@MammaG6 жыл бұрын
Hi Tiereny v .... yes, most definitely. I only used the pine sawdust as it is what I could easily get at the time. The difference with the woods is that pine is a soft wood, and sandalwood is a hardwood .... so make sure your sandalwood sawdust is very fine, otherwise it may be difficult to light. Also, with sandalwood being a hardwood, you'll probably find the cones will burn much longer, as it is slower burning. Enjoy experimenting ♥ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_woods

Ah, hi- So, I'm pretty new to all of this, so if I were to make some out of vanilla extract, would I just use that and double the dust instead of water? Or is it a completely different ballgame?
@MammaG6 жыл бұрын
Hmmm, interesting question. I haven't made any with extracts or oils, but I feel that could work well. Maybe if you mix the extract with the sawdust first, so the wood takes on the scent, then mix the water accordingly to how much is needed. If you do try it out, it would be great if you let us know :)
