My dad visited this cave when he was 7. He says it's a beautiful cave and he would love to go again someday.

I love his tours as I am one of those using a wheelchair and can't go in. I was lucky to see our Florida Caverns in 1971 when I was a teen. LOVE CAVES!!

@@ThePerfectWalk Thanks for letting the cave speak for itself. I participated in the modern resurvey of those very passages in the early 1990s, and it was a real treat to be allowed to wander those giant passages alone in the middle of the night, while one of us drew the new high-resolution sketch over hours and hours. Survey standards have improved yet again, and I am sure our work has been further refined using laser rangefinders and electronic compass/inclinometer readings.

The best adventure I ever had. That ascending staircase rattled and shook all the way up! I survived Fat Man's Misery!

The last time I was there, in the early 1970's with my parents, we took all of the tours they offered then. I still enjoyed this one, even if it was shorter then than now. The guides would stop us every so often and explain different things along the tours.

The one time I went to Mammoth cave back in 2018 I did the Lantern Tour, so it's very interesting to see the cave like this.

When I was a boy scout I always loved to go on the over night trip to Mammoth caves, It was always my favorite camp out even though I am very claustrophobic. Very cool to see its still very fascinating to look at.

Thank you; this was great! Have you been to Luray Caverns in Virginia? I think the size of this cave system is mind boggling and the formations at Luray are spectacular. Both are awesome but very different experiences. Looking forward to more from you!

Is the majority of this tour crouching? My 14 year old is 5 foot 6, and I'm worried about her crouching for the entire thing.
@ThePerfectWalk Жыл бұрын
Not much is crouching. There are more complex tours where you crouch and crawl and scramble - but the core tours are almost no crouching at all

bro when you come to the UK we have the same thing but u gotta be fit, check out Wookey hole u will love it bud, it's been at least 25 years since I have last done it.

I'm a Mammoth Caver and my mentor's father, Oliver Craig Wells, was a pioneer cave diver at Wookey Hole in 1955. I've been there and it's a wonderful cave. I'm from Kentucky, but as an Anglophile, if I ever moved to GB I know exactly where I'd want to live, in your beautiful Mendip Hills, one of the world's karst landscape treasures, just like our Mammoth Cave area. There were areas in Somerset that are indistinguishable at first glance from the limestone uplands of south Central Kentucky (except for the sheep to dairy cattle ratio, of course, which gives the game away)!

Me too. I was expecting to see condos and a shopping mall, but I guess they don't have any investors, lol. Nothing has changed in the 30 years since I went in.

Anyone experience any claustrophobia in there? I want to go but am afraid I will panic.
@ThePerfectWalk Жыл бұрын
Well - I’ve been a few times and not observed anyone having issues - and the initial cavern is very very big - so maybe if you go you could just go down and experience that big first chamber - it’s as big as a shopping mall.

Great video. I WAS feeling claustrophobic just watching the video. 😳😊 Thanks for giving us such a great view of the tour. Really helped me with planning and stuff. We may be going at the end of October this year.

Hey! Just a follow up that I did not feel claustrophobic and it was such an amazing experience. The tour was worth it and the gift shops were great too!
