I will definitely have to come down to California one day with my gravel bike! The riding always looks so amazing and the weather is certainly better than it is in British Columbia. Keep the great videos coming! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

I've ridden Mammoth many many times over the years but only on mountain bikes. I did ride my gravel bike around June lake once (epic!) but I never thought to do a proper gravel ride in Mammoth until now. Excellent vid as usual!

Go Bears!. I love watching the videos and adding your routes to my to-do list, but it was really fun to see the Cal gear on today. As for your ride, I do almost all solo riding out of habit. I was impressed/nervous for you when you started having to make route choices in unfamiliar terrain. I've been lost on roads like that it and it can be unsettling..especially in cold weather and the thought of night riding in day gear looming. You stayed calm and sorted it out. Well done. Thanks for another nice video.

I totally agree about being nervous about doing something unfamiliar, but I couldn't ask for better resources than Dave and Amanda on this one. Plus, if things went sideways I wasn't in areas where people could easily reach me. I was also surprised how long I kept my layers on, but what do you expect from a blueblood?

I did the same thing you did trying to find the Tuff trail portion by instinct (on your day 2) I laughed by arse off as I saw you do the same thing 11 months earlier as I 👍🤣😂😅

Next time please hit up Lower Rock Creek single track that ends in Paradise, it's one of THE best trails in California, but do it on a mountain bike. If you want to break your legs climb up Silver Canyon to White Mountain peak. It's doable on a gravel bike running 40's or larger.

What was the app you mentioned? I wasn't clear how gmaps was messing you up (not that I doubt it at all). When I can, I lay out trips in komoot, especially if I'm not used to an area.

Google maps wasn't clear on the road info there, but I was fine once I downloaded the Ride w GPS app. I was surpised to get great reception out there too.
