Its like a movie, Yana won three consecutive times all-round champion, while Mamun was always the second. But, in the Olympics, Mamun came out top and won the ultimate Olympic gold while Yana stood as the silver-medalist

The Olympics doesn't change the fact that Yana is the better gymnast. Rita deserved the OGM on that day. And although Yana was on her last legs and it still took a dropped club for her to lose. She didn't make excuses though, a real champion at that.

I remember a documentary I watched about Rita, I think the title was Over the limit, and Rita was getting yelled and told horrible things by the head coach because she had made a mistake in her routine and Yana after the medal ceremony went immediately to her to comfort her. They also showed how much verbal abuse they went through and how they were talking about it with one another

Too bad the rivalry was over. Kudryavtseva retired as a professional in January 2017 due to multiple leg injuries.
