I know right. If you suspect or witness a friend, family member and/or neighbor being abused by their spouse, talk. Share with your friend, family member and/or neighbor that you have noticed their spouse's abusive behavior. Remind them that physical and/or emotional abuse is not okay. Encourage. Let your friend, family member and/or neighbor share what is happening without interrupting. Stay calm and don't overreact. Tell your friend, family member and/or neighbor that they do not deserve to be mistreated and you are there to help them through this. Tell. Your friend, family member and/or neighbor may be afraid or not want your help. However, your friend, family member and/or neighbor is in a very dangerous situation. Do not ignore this situation. Report it to the police immediately so your friend, family member and/or neighbor can get the support and protection they need. If your friend, family member and/or neighbor is in immediate danger, call 911! National Domestic Violence Hotline - Call: 1-800-799-7233 or TTY 1-800-787-3224.

It is shocking that the wife of the Police Officer should be at the receiving end of domestic violence for such a long time. She must have tried to escape or bring her condition to the notice of her neighbours hoping of course they would come to her rescue... Women should be strong and courageous. It is heartening to note that some women are not only conscious of the factum of domestic violence but are bold enough to intervene to help the victims. We, as humans, have a very long way to treat half of humankind with respect, love and dignity they deserve. We, as humans, have a long way to go to become human beings!
