I'm honestly more sorry for him than his mother, because he's only 22 years old , and this is the way he was raised.. many black young males grow up without fathers, without discipline or respect to authority... I'm number 11 of 12, and I have 7 brothers... My father was the one disciplining us, my mother used to get in the way to protect us , especially my brothers from my father's belt ..all my brothers are alive and well one was a problem the one who has his name, I remember the police came over our house one time looking for my brother and my dad came out saying I'm Luis Acosta it was the same name.. 😅 we don't have the term Jr in PR .. the cops end up leaving..so my dad was also a protector, but he was though..a man is so necessary in the house, many boys are growing up without a man in their lives and black boys in higher numbers. I have a son by a black man and when the time came he was bigger than me, and I couldn't control him, I called his dad and told him you gotta step in, and I didn't interfere when he stepped in to put him in his place and told him you gotta respect your momma or I will Woop your ass.. women can't raise boy's we can only do so much when they are little, but we're more likely to ruin their lives, and I'm a woman and I know by experience that we have a weakness for boy and we cater to them way more than we do for our girls , and that becomes problematic because boys need even more boundaries they have testosterone and it takes a man in most cases to keep them under control... That boy called his momma and momma made the problem bigger because our nature is to go with it and covered for them.. that's why Fathers are vitals they are the head and their presence is important from the get go... So if it seems to you only happened to blacks is because you aren't looking for the big picture! Starts at home..

This is a perfect example that details why our neighborhoods, communities and cities are broken. They are filled with people who are still living under generational curses where we embrace living in single parent households, having our sons in gangs, embrace violence, and hood culture. Think about what type of environment this cat was born and raised in when he could take out an illegal gun potentially kill a police officer, but call his mother, brother and baby mommy for support and they come running. So to me that means that the crime issue in Memphis is fully baked into the DNA of the people, so nothing will change until the people make a commitment to being better people.

Had a situation last week. Mother, auntie, dude’s dad and dude’s child came to his hearing. Parents brought glowing letters from church members, other family & friends saying how great a guy offender was. They out there “Oh Jesus…Oh my Christ got this…just wailing. Get to the hearing only to find out dude has new felonies. Dude shot a guy 9 times and assaulted another. I looked around to find Jesus cause that would be the only way he would be released from that jail cell. I thought…why did they come here for this? Dude admitted he did it and wanted to go back to prison to do the remainder of his parole time while awaiting his new charges. WTH? Why…why are we doing this to each other? We raise hell when the police kill a Black person, yet stand silently and express no concern over assaulting or murdering each other. Where’s the “Black Lives Matter” mantra? Where’s the outrage? Where are the so-called community leaders? No where to be found. We stay silent and accept aberrant behavior as normal and warn “mind yo business.” Over the last 45-50 years our rage has gone further inward as we race to annihilate each other. And this is not conjecture. Our children should not be left to raise themselves. The internet, videos and other-worldly situations have more influence on our kids than we do. And it is our fault. As parents it’s our fault. It’s not racism. It’s not poverty, or lack of funding in schools. We blame everyone except ourselves. Your children turn out the way they do because of parenting or lack there of. As a parent you should know where your children are; who their friends are; who their friend’s parents are; who their teachers are; if they are attending school or skipping school; and spiritual guidance should be a requirement not an add on at Easter and Christmas just to get new clothes or gifts. We need to fix this ….its way past time to fix this.

The officer should not have busted the man's window. The man should not have shot at the officer. The police department should do away with signing traffic citations/tickets. It is not necessary. Once the officer has it on body Cam that he or she gave the suspect the citation/ticket that is evidence that it was issued.

I AGREE. This is the most rational comment I’ve read so far. There’s really not much love for officers anymore. They need better methods. It’s not rocket science. There was no need to bust the window. The body cam would have shown him refusing the ticket. LET IT BE. Go Home to your family, knowing that you did what you had to do, w/o escalating a situation.
