Dude, I was so blown away by your amazing skills in putting this together. You make it look easy... and I know its not! I wish I could afford one of these, as they are true works of art but sadly my currency is very weak versus the USD/GBP.

I like this one. The lift is very creative and different. I can’t even wrap my brain around how to figured the arc and timing. You make building these sculptors look easy. Recently my 4y old autistic son has gotten in to marble runs on KZbin . I have been building them out of hot wheels tracks and a zigzag down an old easel. I have to be able to disassemble them. I have one of the Spacerail sets it uses plastic wire and clips but same concept as you build. I had one in my youth not sure what happened to it so when i came across it again 10 years ago i got one I might try and recreate a set up on the Spacerail with wire.

While watching your amazing video I was reminded of clockwork and it made me think wouldn't it be amazing to build a sculpture like this based on an old pendulum clock so that it releases a ball every hour. Or even more ridiculously complex, a number of balls relating to the hour. Such a thing should exist in the world.

Yes. Rolling Ball Clocks exist. Have a search.

I have just watched videos of you creating two pieces, I’m loving the way you have developed and streamlined the fabrication process! The multi coloured bending form wheel is genius and the Loci linkage design to lift the balls is creatively simple and beautifully satisfying in its operation. After watch your first creation I wondered if it was possible to slow down and smooth out the path of the balls you have done this and some with this version amazing work great video I wish you all success 👍

I live it, and... It’d be really cool if the ball raising mechanism and the track at the top were switched, so you got to see the precise moment the tracks align as the ball rolls over the join. Also, it’d be great to use some more of the momentum of the ball after the loop-the-loop to get it higher and lengthen that run. Lastly, have you thought about significantly varying the width of the track to slow down and speed up the ball? Great work. Richard

The arm is a tube which contains a threaded rod. Hope this helps. There are 12 individual videos that show the whole build should you want more details of how this was built. Thanks for the comment.

Hi Ian the movement in the sculpture is amazing and you’ve got me hooked on building, i’m playing around with track widths but not sure with the best width to go with. what internal width do you use for your rail when using 5/8” balls as I see in the video you used a 16mm dowel for making the links will the balls just drop through with that size as 5/8” is very close to 16mm Regards Rob
@CopperGravity
@CopperGravity Жыл бұрын
Dowel size and track spacers can be used in many ways. The dowel size give a curve, but that curve could be cut into three equal parts, giving a chord instead of a semicircle. I’m afraid I can’t remember the details of this build, but you sound wise enough to find your way through trial and errors.

Beautiful and stunning to look at. I live in India, near the coast and copper/brass tarnishes quickly. How do you prevent that?
@CopperGravity
@CopperGravity Жыл бұрын
Hi David. Thanks for your comment and question. My copper will also tarnish over time. I could add spray lacquer, but that would affect ball speed. So I don’t and allow the copper to slowly tarnish.
@MrDaviddesouza
@MrDaviddesouza Жыл бұрын
@@CopperGravity that was prompt, thanks, here the tarnish happens much quicker, salt air not withstanding.
