This house is about a quarter mile from where I live and I drive by it all the time always wondering what would become of it. I had no idea the amount of work you were doing to the inside because the outside barely changed. What a fantastic job you guys did on this place! I was always hoping someone would restore it, and you have done an outstanding job. Thank you!

In most of the world, I believe that removing the old house and building a new one would make more sense, unless time is not an issue, and labor cost means nothing to this guy.

Thank you for sharing this journey! It’s truly inspiring for anyone dreaming of taking on a restoration project themselves. Whether it’s preserving an old craftsman’s charm or bringing back the glory of a Victorian, seeing it all come together is a beautiful reminder of why we value these homes so much. This house is well on its way to becoming a masterpiece once more, and I can’t wait to see the final reveal! 🙌🏻✨

It’s not just about the hard work, but the passion and love for old architecture. 😍 Thank you for sharing this journey, it’s truly inspiring for anyone wanting to take on a restoration project. It’s going to be a beautiful masterpiece once finished!

Not a restoration as some commenters mention. Gut and renovate which is what it was and that is fine. It doesn't retain any of the original charm and character of the original house, which is also fine. That could definitely have been accomplished, but, it is now a livable space, sitting on a decent amount of property. I have two houses built in 1883 and 1939 and both retain many original features, original lath and plaster, wavy glass and tin ceilings in the 1883, etc. All that has really changed is that the exteriors of both have been vinyl sided, so every day I experience the character and craftsmanship of the interiors of both houses. That is what makes me happy. This house has been transformed into a comfortable, livable space which is what makes the owner happy. You would never guess, from looking at the interior, that this is an old house. I subscribed and watched the owner's channel until it became apparent that it was a renovation, not a restoration, and then unsubscribed and moved on. I may revisit that channel to see if any of the original charm of the exterior has survived.

Great work.. even though tearing it down and building something new would’ve been cheaper, they did achieve their goal in preserving as much of the original structure as possible.. as long as they are happy with the outcome that’s most important.. personally, it’s a lot of work done preserving something that didn’t have a good layout/floor plan to begin with

Beautiful workmanship, high skills with the excavating machines. There was a lot of rotten wood, and the demolition, especially of the floors, looked dangerous to the guys. Tearing the cabin down and rebuilding would have been safer and less restrictive regarding design, but the owners must have had nostalgia for the old structure. A lot of hard, skillful work. Congratulations.

Much of the original cabin is gone. Reminds me of a story of the man who inherited his great grandfather’s hatchet. His grandfather replaced the worn handle and his father replaced the head…. The cabin is no longer 100 years old. Nearly all is replaced. I would have tried to preserve as much as possible of the original even if it looked old and flawed.

Sometimes tired buildings, often after years of chronic neglect, should be demolished. This, sadly, is a prime example. The small fraction of the original building that was retained, simply served as a hindrance to the completion of a proper rebuild. This applies to the patchwork foundation “repair” and everything else that followed. I can only hope that no one watching this video will be “inspired” to attempt a similar project.

Well done, but all these slabs cannot be used in interior decoration, the fumes of the connecting substance are poisonous and the evaporation lasts a very long time. The reinforcement strapping for the foundation had to be done immediately so that it would be solid. The old wood had to be stripped and covered with protective compounds. All metal fasteners, wiring, sewers must be isolated from direct interaction with air. It was necessary to solve the issue of ventilation of the house so that condensation would not accumulate on the roof, upper floor, kitchen, or bathroom. I didn't notice any of this. How long will this renovated house last? The old house lasted so long because it was very well ventilated.s.

I'm not an experienced Builder by any means, but why would you not put thosd little support boards between the roof beams instead of attaching them to the outside? Between the arch seems like it would have been more structurally supportive and strong. Also when you did the outside of the roof you didn't put down any tar paper or anything underneath the metal roofing those little rubber grommets that that come with that metal roofing are going to bake in the sun and crack and shrink over time and then you've got a roof leak. I'm probably wrong on that stuff but that just seems logical to me.
