MAN CITY WANT KYOGO?! + BOGUSZ TO REPLACE O'RILEY | Celtic Transfer Update

The Athletic & Sky Sports have reported that Man City want Kyogo Furuhashi and initial talks have taken place with Celtic. Kyogo recently changed agency to CAA Base and has a contract until May 2027.
Celtic are reportedly close to agreeing a deal for 22 year-old Polish attacker Mateusz Bogusz from LAFC. Bougusz has scored 13 goals and has 5 assists in the MLS this season. Reports in a Polish outlet suggest he is valued around €8-10m (£6.5-£8m) and is earmarked to replace Matt O'Riley should the Denmark midfielder complete his transfer to Brighton.

Leeds fan here, Bogusz was once tipped to be a real coup for us, he looked to be Pablo Herdandez' successor. But he really struggled to break into the first team so he went out on loan and even struggled to shine then. Hes obviously very young and could have massively improved, but I'd be wary that he may flatter to deceive as he did in our friendlies and U23 games. Bear in the MLS is currently full of very old who were painfully average players in their prime and they can look fantastic in that league

Double edged sword as we know all too well. You can’t tell a player that they’re not going to one of the best teams in Europe in the best league in the world. We found that out the hard way when going for 10, and that was for trying to hold on to players wanting to leave for far far smaller clubs. If there is truth in it then you wish Kyogo the best and with it being out of the blue, use the money to bring in a replacement. Money won’t guarantee getting a player anywhere near as good, but that’s fitby.

If Man City are truly interested in Kyogo, I hope they make a decent offer & It’s accepted. Obviously I don’t want to see him go but he’s earned the chance to make serious money & play at the very top. He’s 29 now & hasn’t been anything like as prolific as when Ange was here because of Brendan’s style of play, so it’s the right time in my view. Maeda is arguably better as our striker right now, so if we bring in Bogutz, we’ll be ok as we’ve also got Idah. Hopefully Engells will join our midfield so we’re pretty strong there. Domestically I think we’ll be fine without Matt & Kyogo, not sure about Europe..🍀

When I’ve seen him he’s played to the right hand side of the attack (ok not as wide as Abadas starting position, a bit tucked in from that but definitely not the Kyogo or MOR positions) and comes in - he is young and fairly quick but never stood out to me at least as killer final ball, no.10 type. For me, he is exactly the profile of our “third” striker. Given how many chances we make and the quality in the league, he’d do just fine.
