My then boyfriend now husband cried in front of me when his mother called him and he showed me a picture of her. As he was explaining how she tried to unalive herself with a shotgun because her husband was an abusive alcoholic, tears were shed as he sat there thinking about seeing his mom in the hospital afterwards. I’d like to believe any woman with a good heart would see this situation and think “wow, he’s such a sweet guy” like I did, and it’s one of the many reasons I married him. But most women I see on Social Media probably would’ve laughed or shamed him for showing that vulnerability. And that’s fuckin sad.
