This is why I stopped researching my family tree and got family out my life! It all started because I found out my great grandfather owned 160 acres of land in 1902. Only 20 acres remains in the family. It shocked me because he NEVER worked and had chauffeurs. I thought it was drugs but it was far from that. I’m from southern Louisiana. My husband has a friend that I don’t really talk to much. One day he asked my husband to watch his house because he was going home to visit family. I asked where he was from during the conversation. When I told him I had family there and my great grandfather’s name, he stepped back from me and told me to LEAVE IT ALONE! BUT NO I had to find out more😂! He wouldn’t tell me anything. I had a long talk with my mother and an aunt about their childhood. They told me enough to know I don’t want to EVER step foot on that land! My great grandfather had 15 kids and my grandmother , his daughter, had 19 kids! I always found it odd how she only had one boy. He died in a very odd way in her house. I haven’t been back to her house or another family reunion either. I don’t mess with that stuff! This story made me think of my family. The guy that told me to leave it alone, he called my husband last month to tell him he’s leaving his house and land to us! He wants to meet us at a lawyers office to sign the paperwork. I’m scared to death! He has cancer. I feel like I need to research HIM!

I honestly believe that he was guided by the darkness that consumes so many people. I believe that the sadness that comes with being in a tough place in life and the want to be better, can actually bring you to a worse place. I have a theory that may not be exactly what happened, but it is just a theory. Desperate people do desperate things to get out of the despair that they feel. Perhaps he was having some expected mental or emotional issues going on, but that wouldn't explain why he did what he did. Just bc someone who seems powerful is telling you to do something, doesn't mean you have to do that. Bless him and bless you for letting us know about the story. it is a definite cautionary tale, of sadness, disappointment and most of all, self destruction. The respect for the deceased is in almost every culture around the world,we should all be very careful. They are still souls, and that's even more important than the body,in my opinion.
