After a particularly bad episode on a trip, a friend told me about the fact that bismuth subsalicylate (pepto bismol) can prevent episodes. Looked up a few studies and started taking half of an extra strength pill just before noon and the evening. So far (5ish years) we haven't been hit again. Been around for 100+ years, nothing fancy and cheap but it works pretty well for us.

What if the dogs can't read the sign? Always eat/drink local fresh yogurt or ideally kefir daily when you're eating sketchy food mate! It's a lifesaver and available almost everywhere and is usually cheap and delicious. Better than any medicine.

It rained all 6 days and I got sick!!! We had some great plans for exploring the countryside's too!! Next time! Fun fact in 3 years only had food poisoning 3 times twice in Mexico and once in Pakistan ahah oh well it's worth it in Mexico the food is so bloody good. My own fault for being unhygienic and risky cos I have a super strong stomach

Hello from Jalisco, Mexico! I am a retired US Navy that now lives in Mexico full time. I am Mexican-Americans and wanted to share something important to your health problem. Your belly aches and you probably feel bloated and quickly need to poop 💩 after eating!? Your problem is not food poisoning of any kind to do with hygiene or water. The problem is anyone, even Mexicans build up to different spice heat. Even when we stop eating spicy 🔥🥵 food for a few months do to health, we have to build back up tolerance. This is common knowledge here... Slow down and stick to a mild bottled hot sauce like Tabasco instead. Nobody will feel offended. Tell them you get stomach problems with spices and tomato 🍅 seeds. We believe seeds also cause stomach problems to some of us. Ok hope that enriches your experience. Mexican people are very civilized people. I'm sure you would agree. That is the one word I thinki describes them/us.
