I honestly believe something like that had to be at play. Wolves migrate with the prey, wolves don’t stay stationary and they also aren’t going to attack something that’s in a group. They’ll rush a heard and pick off an animal that’s to slow or separates from the herd. It’s possible that they just decided to attack but it’s highly unlikely, I feel like something similar to what you said had to be at play

I read that during Christmas, both sides left the trenches and greeted each other. It was really nice seeing them stop killing each other for the holidays. But after all that was over, they head back to the trenches to start fighting all over again. I honestly believed that they would talk about why they're even fighting in the first place, maybe even persuade them to stop fighting all together. Sometimes the miracle that stuff like man eating wolves and Christmas can bring enemies together, even if it's just for a short time.

There was a report from 1 or 2 years ago in Alberta, Canada near lake Louise and Banff. A camper was pulled out of his tent at night by a wolf. Luckily, he wasn’t alone and his family shouted and chased it off. The wolf was later shot by wildlife officials. They later released a statement saying that wolf was likely a lone wolf and couldn’t find anything to eat by itself and maybe hadn’t eaten in a while, so in desperation, it attacked a human. Very sad.
