After his dad died, Flash Shelton says his mother needed to sell their home. When realtors tried to list the property, they found someone already living there. Shelton suspected it was a woman who he told could not rent the home. However, she moved into the California property anyway. Shelton drove 10 hours from Los Angeles to enter the home. Once there, he noticed boxes and furniture everywhere. When the squatter returned to the property, Shelton gave her until midnight to move out.

Someone did this to a relative’s house while they were in the hospital. We went in through the basement with a police officer and turned off electricity, water, WiFi. Luckily, they were a high end bougie squatter and it was 20 degrees out they didn’t want to stay and have it uncomfortable. They moved out hours later. It's not just california. In the US, the police have no duty to help nor to provide policing services to any member of the public and it's been that way for decades. The worst case, imo is Warren v District of Columbia. In the 1970s, several female roommates and a 4 year old girl were r*ped for 14 hours by home intruders. Twice they were able to call the police for help. The first cop drove by without stopping. The 2nd cop left when the r*pists wouldn't let the victims answer the door. The women sued and lost, with court again ruling, cops don't have to help us. A more recent case is Castlerock v Gonzales. A woman had a restraining order against her ex husband. He took their children so she called police to enforce the restraining order. They refused and the husband murdered all the children. She sued and lost because cops don't have to enforce restraining orders and because they've had qualified immunity since 1981, they're protected from being sued, even when their refusal to help costs kids their lives.

He's a nice guy. You resort to the tough stuff when a polite just leave doesn't work. He knew she had a good job and wouldn't risk it over this. Most squatters don't have jobs so they have nothing to lose.

That happened to my boss her husband died they were separated so when he passed away she was putting the house for sale and people were living in it she called the cops and they couldn't do anything she finally got the house back after 8 months those people left and destroyed the whole house there was pictures of her family all over the house ripped up all appliances gone holes all over it was so sad. It's amazing to me how the law works. It's scary to know if a stranger comes in your home you can't kick them out.

I feel bad for her, but at the same time he told her no she couldn’t move in there. But she chose to move in there anyway. That is the part that bothers me you know. She has no right to be telling people that they can’t make bad choices when she makes bad choices herself That is the part that really bothers me to the core you know

This issue is not just CA, it isn’t even just a USA issue… it happens everywhere and law enforcement call it a "civil issue" which needs to be court ordered first.

A) Fire your audio engineer. B) That squatter did not “move into the home”, unless they left out a detail like the doors were left unlocked, this was straight-up breaking and entering. _That’s a felony._ Doesn’t matter what the situation is, police SHOULD have showed up to arrest her.

This is so sad. This lady has a job and still was getting evicted and wasn't able to afford a place to stay. Good for the owner that she moved out immediately without a fight. Besides that the house may have looked cramped but still quite clean. Lucky him she was compliant and didn't leave a mess.
