I made an escape like that from a pretty abusive crazy chick when I was in my early 20s as well. Me and my buddy both had pickup trucks, so we had no problem getting it all moved in one trip. I had been secretly apartment hunting for weeks prior too, and had just signed a lease on a new place and paid the first month and deposit on a new place the day before after I got off work. Left her ass struck like a match with rent due in just a few days, and no furniture, TVs, microwave or coffee maker lol. I was outta there!! I even went and had my number changed that day too. I became the very definition of a GHOST. No trace of me left behind, and no way to know where i went, or to contact me. It was like I never even existed at all. I was an Ironworker at the time, making bank..about $1500 a week, and this was in 2004, so i was the bread winner and paid for everything. She only worked 3 days a week at Little Caesars, and made minimum wage, which was $5.15 an hour back in those days. So she was quite literally screwed. But like you said, I warned her 🤷‍♂️
