So it sounds like jeweler dude strongly suspected it was stolen, but did not say anything about its history. Then, the central figure in the story, decides to keep the brooch to remind his family of lessons learned. Besides unanswered questions in this story, I'm certainly glad I didn't grow up in family that had his value system.

It’s late and I’m tired so maybe I’m not tracking….But how did the jeweller know “he shouldn’t have the brooch?” Did he know who it belonged to? who stole the brooch? How did Granny get the brooch? Who really owns the brooch? Why are we sorry for Greedy Granny’s “hardship” that she happily kept and wore a stolen brooch that she totally KNEW and was fine with keeping a stolen brooch and didn’t even try to return it? My Grandmother would make me “go get a switch” for her to punish me with for stealing a marble!! She would never have kept something that didn’t belong to her…EVER …smh 🤔🤔 Why is this a story of redemption of a drunk driver who thank God was no longer drinking and driving but he had unalived 2 people and he only served 3 years in jail??! … Really? He got three whole years for unaliving TWO people? Boy did he get off easy! So a unpunished ki||*r and thief basically get off and this is a redemption story? Someone make it make sense please!
