Even in those big boats that water is way to rough, IMO, that can't be much fun when even 35-40+ft boats are in danger of stuffing their noses.

I’m not a boat person, but have operated lots of machinery. It seems to me that the pounding has got to loosen seams or joints in the boat. Hope they check those often.

Good point. There was/is a mfgr that welds instead of rivet the seams like they do with aircraft. But...apparently the rivets hold up better than the welds.

I have done a lot of off shore sailing on a 46 ft sailboat , a bunch out of Ft Lauderdale and have been in 15 ft seas and 40 knt wind gales and it is no fun but we can pound through it but we do it at 6 knots vs 20+ of these boats and it is a good and bad.. we are not slamming but it takes us 2-5 times as long to get through it.

If you had 4 outboards vs 2 inboards - you are twice as likely to not have a power failure. The more individual engines you have - the less likely you are to have a full power failure simply by odds. It's really that simple. There is a very small top speed advantage to multiple engines - but your acceleration is multiplied almost linear by each engine added.

Because it’s usually only that bad in the Inlet.. Make it out and you can have very good conditions.

@@keithscudder7136 What choice did they have. Risk being laughed at and ridiculed. On the last stretch within the protected waters, they all open op the throttle as the Drones swoop in for the close up. Im sure some have fortified(?) themselves with a few shots.

Too rough for me. Some of those folks should rename their vessels "Death Wish". The only boats that seem to work the big waves with few problems are the sporties and that's probably because their skippers are professionals or close to it. The BW Sporty towards the end is one of my dream boats. Of course, the Midnight Express, Formulas, Nor-Techs, et. al., are also dream boats.
