It’s so painful watching someone start an xr400 who has no idea what they are doing lol. People think these bikes are hard to start when they are not. Kick the bike over slowly until you reach top dead center when the kicker is hard then kick the bike all the way through like a man. He’s kicking it like he’s scared of it. I own a 1999 XR400 and a 2002 XR650r and I can start both of them in 3 kicks with flip flops. It’s all about technique!

I'm 14, and my dad bought one for me. The guy who sold it says that I have to choke it kick it 2 times turn off the choke then kick it until it starts I usually get it 1st or 2nd kick it's an awesome bike that was kept indoors for most it's life. It's a 2003 xr400r

I got a xr 400 and it's been a pain to crank. It's a beauty but by the time I get it started I don't feel like riding it. Gonna put a new plug and fresh gas and clean the carb, hopefully that works. I'm not much of a gear head so any tips would be greatly appreciated. Cool video!!
