I had broke my ankle in freshman year of high-school and had to be in a wheelchair for 12 weeks so ended up I had to ride the disabled buss to school and from school. The one kid I sat next to was the daughter of my elementary school Spanish teacher and her and I would type letters to each other bc she was mute but could type. Well I saw her mom while working waitressing and her mom was so happy that her daughter and I became friends. Another kid on that bus wanted a hug from a random student in the hall one time and the random student just kept pushing him away and so I walked over and gave the kid a hug and he was just so happy every time one of those kids saw me after my leg healed they’d want a high five or a hug and I never hesitated. They’re people just like everyone else and deserve to be treated with all the kindness in the world. I also used to babysit a mentally challenged girl. She died a couple years ago. My mom and her mom were best friends. Her name was Tiffany we called her tiffy. She used to love when I had my hair up in 2 pony tails. I’ll never forget her. 💕

My friend has a little sister with Austism and I like to get her some toys. I take the time to custom make doll clothes for Barbie dolls, make custom bowls for Barbie dolls, and all kinds of other things. I take the top part of a acorn and sand it down to make bowls. I then put a clear coat to make the bowl look nicer for her to use when playing with dolls. I also make custom clothing for dolls by hand so that she can have one of a kind doll outfits for her and her sisters dolls. I was once given a old plain Barbie dress that was ripped and made it look like a princess gown for her to use. I spend hours working on making doll accessories for her sometimes because it is one of the things she likes. She sometimes gives me actual Barbie accessories when she gets alot of one so that I can use it with my Monster High dolls. I got a pink spoon that I'm going to paint to look gold so that it'd match another thing I own.

Okay, I'm so glad you're bringing awareness about Down Syndrome, because my brother is facing it himself. I'm so happy that there's an action you guys are doing for the community itself, and honestly, I've been tearing up. It's saddening, people with DS are being stepped on, and shunned out. My brother used to get bullied by both teacher and students (he's a person who's super naive, and he also gets tantrums) and I would always send him to his class (we go to the same school with classes for students that are mentally challenged.) I get bullied and shunned out for having a brother like him, so hearing and seeing this video and the content in it, I'm honestly very very grateful. Thank you.

Back in Highschool, I joined the Unified Sports team, where there were some of the kids had down syndrome. I bonded with them and they became my friends. After I graduate, I used to see one of them at Burger King, every Sunday around the same time. He always seemed happy to see me, and he had such a nice smile. I liked that he hugged me every time we saw each other. He has down syndrome, but he always seems happy. If anyone ever bullied him, I would stand up for him, even though I feel uncomfortable in social situations. I would stand up and use my voice for anyone that gets bullied.

I have a sister with Down syndrome, her name is Emily. I love her to death, my best friend and always will be. We were literally inseparable going up, she wouldn’t go somewhere without me and I wouldn’t go anywhere without her. We share a special bond...in school they’d have to pull me out of class because she was having a behavior and they couldn’t get her to calm down but I could. She always tells me “best sister ever”. I lover her so much so when I saw this I cried hard because it really hits home. Even though I was younger I always had to stand up for her. I remember one time we were bowling and this group of people kept giving her dirty looks. To make a long story short, they moved to the complete opposite end of the bowling alley from us. Emmy wasn’t doing anything she was just bowling but they moved because she was different. She had Down syndrome and that’s not okay. They don’t realize how badly it affects there loved ones to see something like that happen. People need to realize how wonderful these humans are...I am who I am because of my sister and I wouldn’t wanna change a thing about it. She can always put a smile on anyways face and just makes life better for everyone. If she’s upset all I have to say to her is “don’t smile Emily” and of course she smiles and giggles❣️ Not all is bad though, her senior year she got homecoming queen and I cannot tell you how excited she was. I remember balling because for us as her family it was just amazing she made homecoming court let alone queen. She was really popular at school which I’m so thankful for but not everyone is as lucky as that or not everyone sees her like that, like those people at the bowling alley. It’s sad people do it, but they do and as a sister of someone who has Down syndrome please stand up for them if something like this is happening because they can’t do it themselves most the times. I balled at this video but can’t thank you enough for sharing it, people need to be aware and you helped that so thank you❤️

This makes me really sad how people act. My uncle has down syndrome and he has gone through things like this. When the guy said you should have a guardian it made me mad me and my uncle walk down to a restaurant from his house and eat without my grandma (his mom) who is technically the one who helps him with certain things. He is perfectly capable of going by himself and reading the menu.

It's great people stand up for others. We need more people like that. And I must say, they acted really good.
