You would have hated my ending. I failed a lot of QTE's and as a result, Brad ended up getting *EVERYONE* killed. He bashed Fliss' skull in, chased Conrad off a ledge, got Julia shot in the head, and sliced his brother Alex in half with the shutter door. At the end, he got the distributor cap and drove off into the sunset yelling "WOOO". Needless to say, I was quite pissed.

I like the mechanic. In until dawn it tutorialized this by having a squirrel pop out at you while shooting cans with a bb gun and you were punished for hitting the QTE. Its immersive because in that moment you don't want the character to react so therefore you shouldn't react. Minor spoilers: then later in the game you are rewarded for not shooting a dog the same way.

This might be just me, but even in the best ending, this game gives you a lot of opportunities to kill Fliss. You can have Brad kill her if you fail the quick-time event, you can have Alex kill her at the end, you can have her get killed by those hands coming from the floor. Just a lot of ways that don’t seem in her control at all.

The game is good but like you can make scares without unnecessarily loud noises. After a while it becomes cheap and obnoxious, it was the same with until dawn. The sailor girl (to me) was a good scare because it was just kinda there and I just saw it and was like holy fuck lmao. But yeah, it just got annoying and predictable.

BOWIESENSEI there are actually multiple of those situations that are easy to miss! The Curator appears in the background multiple times. One time is when Conrad is going out the window, another when they’re jumping off a platform, he appears in the background during a scene that doesn’t appear in this play through that I don’t want to spoil. Those are just the ones off the top of my head. But I agree, they relied too much on jump scares.

There are plenty scary moments without loud noises, such as things moving at the edge of the screen, bodies suddenly turning/changing, etc. None of those needed noise to create scares. But of course the majority of the main scares will be accompanied by loud noises because that is one of the easiest ways you can scare people.

I love Ghost stories and Ghost ships. The Ourang Medan is one of my personal favorites. Only issue I take with the story basis for this game though, the Ourang Medan was supposed to be a Dutch Merchant vessel, with a Dutch crew. Not a US Naval ship. The legend has never been proven true or false, but unless someone manages to find a shipwreck around or within the Strait of Malacca, its still a good ghost story to tell and spook others with :)

Yes, because a random black sea stallion carrying guys with random tact vest and no insignia are going to LAND on a rusted out WWII era ship that has cranes and cables on it's deck. Instead of the coast guard responding (which would have made sense, since the United States Coast Guard is literally who responds to rescue calls), They have a group of unarmed dudes who look/act like airsoft gun enthusiast. Even "Fish and Game" will board your boat with a handgun at the very least. Wearing shades with a face mask and green BDU while you are conducting an operation in the ocean was just icing on the cake. Sidenote: Why the hell did they come to the conclusion to use a radio on this old ship, when they have a perfectly functioning radio on their own boat that works just fine? You don't need a distributor cap to activate a HAM radio. The guy who hid under the bed had a chance to literally just sit in the boat and call for help. That being said, gonna like this video because no annoying commentary and it wasn't frustrating to watch. Keep it up.

He just literally came out of hiding, saw a random big ass dark boat with no lights on it and figured: "Alright, screw attempting to use the radio or look around the boat for spare equipment." Personally, if I'm going onto a strange ship and I'm not sure who or what is on the ship, I'm about to walk on it with full diving gear for a quick over the side exit. Also, another side note: How come they didn't find not one submachine gun or m1 rifle? It isn't like the guns were in lockup during the event, because everybody grabbed a rifle and began shooting everybody up. You would find them scattered all over the ship but they only came across rusty knifes.

They didn't really get the chance to react too much. They weren't really shocked because they knew it was a military vessel, and didn't have the records the rest of the main characters did. All they saw were the coffins, leaving them very confused before getting jumped. And both of the soldiers who got jumped had their faces covered so you can't really tell their reaction.

There's seven games left on this anthology, with the second possibly titled 'Little Hope'. I wonder if these series of anthologies are indirectly related or a series of stand-alone stories inspired by real life mysteries. Anyhow, I'm excited for the next parts of the story. It is quite fun and I actually enjoyed it. Although the ending of Man of Medan is quite abrupt & felt like a cliffhanger (my opinion). edit: Maybe there's more to it? Unlikely but maybe. I can't wait for the second game.

Eh, Fliss can be considered 'brave' since she can stand up to the pirates a lot during the first encounter, plus risks her own personal safety to try and get the distributor cap back (alone) when Junior leaves it on the box, she generally just doesn't shy away from going into dangerous situations/going along by herself.

It's not hard to figure out what's going on if you know the story of the Medan. There was allegedly one survivor who made it to an island. He died, but before he did he said that they were moving gas or something, and it started leaking. It made everyone hallucinate and die. Somehow the gas lingered and it's causing everyone to hallucinate

Hello YT uhmm...no, even before you escape you had your chance to raise chad's rep on fliss and infact! the chad's escape ending, fliss is very happy that she hugged and kissed him. But thats not the only thing thats i was tryna say that which made this vid not accurately right cause my other reason is that the BLACK FISHERMAN WITH THE BANDANA ON HIS HEAD WHO TURNS OUT TO BE A NICE GUY DID NOT SURVIVE!!!! R nB you can even see some little details on how he's actually nice he's trying not to hurt anybody and he's the only one who actually cared for them like on that time when they first entered the ship and they got locked up by the fishermans inside a dark room. He was the only one who gave a flashlight to them so atleast they wouldn't worry or complain about being dark in there. And also the part before he kills himself he even said he never wanted to hurt anybody its just he has no choice....kinda sad actually.....and also most in the movies when the bad guy turns into a monster or something they embrace it and use it just to kill the main characters or the protagonists but this guy.....he thought he was gonna transform into something horrible so he killed himself instead of denying it...now thats selfless.

I think this was a good game in concept. It wasn’t really scary, and the twist was pretty obvious but it had some good themes and plot devices. I liked mostly everyone but I liked Brad Conrad and Alex the most. Dunno, maybe I sympathize with fellow guys more. I hope everything worked out in the end for all of them though; Alex finishes med school, Conrad gets a nephew and drinks responsibly, Julia and Alex have a happy marriage and life together, Brad continues to step up and someday engrains that confidence in his character, and Fliss and Conrad keep on having a ‘thing’ and her diving business continues (despite its dubious qualifications haha). Subbed. Thanks for playing for us! Hope Little Hope is a bit more on the ball with the horror tho :p

I think the first guy's reaction to the initial corpse in Sick Bay would have been way different. Any trained soldier would have immediately been searching or hollering for a senior officer to inform of the death, looking to preserve the chain of command. I think it's a bit silly that he just goes to the brig and lets his buddy out, without checking with anybody for approval first, etc.

One problem i have for this game. The game is Called "Man of Medan" and is based on a real life Indonesian urban legend the "SS Ourang Medan" (SS Man from Medan). The urban legend is set in Medan, a city in Indonesia. But the game is set in Polynesian French instead of Indonesia....Makes about as much sense as making a Jack The Ripper game set in Poland instead of Victorian England...

Oh well...
