The Navy SEALS, Delta, and all SF units around the world... heck even sports teams, go back and watch the tapes. "Armchair quarterbacking" is a phrase that refers to unrealistic criticism given to a situation after all the facts have been discovered; usually including facts not possessed at the time of the incident. The phrase does not apply here.

Why not? This has been happening for years. The police have tried to tell you, but no one believed the police. The body cams that were demanded because the police were "hunting" people have now exonerated hundreds of officers in situations just like this. All suspects have to do is comply. Stop resisting arrest. Just stop. If the arrest is unlawful, follow due process and sue. Why no one is saying this is beyond comprehension.

@@andrewdowling6321 I believe that the criminal got some shots off while the officer was fiddling with the safety. If any of those shots had hit and killed an officer, we would be having a very different conversation in the comments. In the military the action of flipping the safety and firing is built into the manual of arms by repetition. But I agree, getting shot at drops people to their lowest level of training. His shots were impressive, so I suspect that is where he has focused all of his training.

About the add, I wish I could legally buy pepper spray here (the Netherlands), but pepper spray is not only illegal; it is on a separate black list. So even if I'm allowed to own a rifle that can shoot through an armored car 500 yards away, I'm still not allowed to own pepper spray because I might actually use it to defend myself.

Yeah but on the other hand, don’t you folks generally tend to keep a football field or two between one another as the general distance for a respectful conversation? I’m not entirely confident that Pom has that kind of range unless the wind is *extremely* favorable. Also, on the rifle note; what do your gun laws look like? I (erroneously, apparently) assumed that your laws were similar to that of the majority of EU nations; that is to say extremely restrictive.
@dr6891
@dr6891 Жыл бұрын
@@outofturn331 I suppose. But it keeps getting worse year over year though. In Canada you can only respond with "equal or lesser force" in self defence. Meaning, the only time you can use any form of weapon against an attacker is if they used a similar weapon and they were the initial aggressor. And even then, a ruling of self defence doesn't offer an immediate acquittal on the force you applied to the attacker. Specifically in cases where you applied substantially MORE force to an attacker than that which was applied to yourself (ie: you were stabbed and survived, but in fighting for your life you killed the attacker. You may sadly do 5-10 years in jail or more). Obviously circumstance and situation is applied to all cases, so this comment is just a general statement of the facts. Some Canadians have acted in self defence with and without weapons of all kinds and have had all charges against them dropped. Personally, I much prefer the defence laws in the USA. Ps. Using firearms for self defence in Canada is almost unheard of for the average person.. There are a few cases which have been resolved and a few currently in the process. The outcomes of these cases can vary widely. There have been cases where someone has successfully used a firearm for self defence, and the only charges they faced were "improper storage of firearms". On the other hand, there are cases which someone has successfully used a firearm for self defence and been convicted of murder, manslaughter, assault with weapon, etc. and faced only reduced sentencing for said crimes due to the self defence ruling. Very complicated.

In the uk those cameras are all linked to a control room with loads of monitors, they aren’t all individually monitored but if calls from public or radio info from officers comes in then they bring up the relevant camera and monitor and rely info, rather than someone watching individual cameras 24-7 ie 1 person to 1 camera fully monitored Usually they’ll be dozens of cameras per person in the op room Also we gave ANPR which is automatic number plate recognition cameras, which either ping from static cameras to control room or to onboard cameras in cop cars which are linked to insurance and intelligence data and ping for cars linked to crime or with no tax/insurance and then the cameras can bring up the car to monitor or for cop to pull over, as well as cars tracked by what cameras they ping, they can predict routes, see regular routes travelled etc

Wait till you hear about some cities that run these planes over the city real high, and take pictures every few seconds. They are actually shot thru some telescope thingy and super high resolution so they can take pictures of like big blocks of the city really well. And then they can upload those pictures to the police and see real time certain cars going certain places over time and people traveling point a to b to c and so forth. I don’t know how many cities run these, I just saw one video on it a few years ago. Figure it would be pretty expensive, and would take the right conditions for it.

As a civilian, if somebody shoots at you, you shoot back and hit an innocent, you're still going to be held liable. Cars make horrible cover. Except for the engine block bullets can easily penetrate it. Moving slowly forward would just make the officers easy targets. And no, if you fire in self-defense you won't be charged for collateral damage unless you acted recklessly. The officer fired carefully , fired single rounds and hit his target. If he opened full auto then sure you would have a point. No one should expect police to take fire and not return it. Backdrop is considered when you are the aggressor not the defender. I find it's most likely something that you shouldn't bother to be mad at, considering it's only becoming more and more the norm. Intersection cameras and automated speed cameras, building surveillance cameras inside (like at Walmart where they show you that you're being recorded) or even outside. By this point in time, even though I can understand the concern behind the potential nefarious uses behind the technology, it's so far seemed to have been proven to be a benefit to societal daily-life.

One of the major reasons for a reduction in violence in Iraq during the occupation was US forces going from the practice of staying in FOBs and then driving to patrol areas, to occupying smaller posts in cities and towns to patrol directly. Police should have station houses in violent neighborhoods from which to patrol and respond.

@hunterkiller232134
@hunterkiller232134 Жыл бұрын
@@blightedgrounds you're mixing up events. The US didn't leave equipment in Iraq. We withdrew in an orderly fashion and any equipment left was given to the Iraqi government. ISIS did capture equipment years later after Iraqi government forces put up an initially poor defense. You might be thinking of the disastrous Afghan withdrawal that did directly lead to billions of dollars of equipment left behind or captured from the Afghan government in just a couple months. But there are no Kurds in Afghanistan, or at least not a large minority. So you may be thinking of our withdrawal from Syria after completing operations against ISIS but again, the majority of equipment was withdrawn in an orderly fashion. Some equipment was captured by Russia and the Syrian government or by Turkey when they claimed old positions held by the US, and they did engage Kurdish forces in Syria as Turkey considers the PKK a terrorist group and the Kurds are in opposition to the Russian backed Syrian government. However none of those events were celebrated as victories. The Afghan withdrawal was rightly seen as a disaster in the US and no one other than the Biden administration claimed otherwise. The Syrian withdrawal was incredibly controversial and the Secretary of Defense, Gen. James Mattis, retired over his disagreement with that decision. The Iraq withdrawal was met more with a sense of relief after 8 years or so of occupation, and the last convoy quietly drove to Kuwait under cover of dark.
