I bought this CD on a lark after I had heard one song on some random Internet radio station, back in the late 90's when Internet radio was a rare and precarious medium. I fell in love with the album instantly. I especially love the cheesy movie references. If any band fits in with the MST3K ethos, this is it. No wonder they cover the theme song. I'm not a big fan of surf music in general, but there's something about this album that hooked me and drew me in.
@stashmerkin957610 жыл бұрын
I did exactly the same thing! I loved the cheesy 50's style art on the cover and then saw they covered the MST3k theme song on the CD. Instant buy!

Since learning of concept on this album I've pursued full time the learning of Chinese language and Ginetic CRISPER science as I know only a totalitarian dictatorship is the only place on earth i can legally create such a monstrous weapon. In honour of the creator of this idea please listen to this album during the pending apocalypse whilst you are getting torn apart from blood sucking crabs

I first listened to Surf Rock about 2 years ago at a lo-fi gig in a basement before my friends made me go to this psy-trance (as if we haven't heard enough of that, ouff) party at a college only to be made by the same friends to leave said party 'cause it was too weird for them. Guess what, people do drugs at psy-trance parties. Could have enjoyed a good 30' of more surf rock. It's amazing. My favourite thing about these bands besides the music are the names. So imaginative. "Of Sex & Demise" is prolly my favourite song by MoAM.

We used to go see this band, good times. The Mummies were another one of these acts that put on one of the greatest live show you could see in the early 90s. You'd think it was going to be all presentation, but they'd just go nuts and physically confront the audience, it was great. The Scaries were like that, The Woggles... actually Goober and the peas were pretty amazing. Didn't even know who that guy was when he got famous, I mean, that he was that same guy. The early ninties was one of the best times to see live music, most people today don't know how varied the shows really were. You were often peering into the past or the future or both; and it was real like a punch in the fucking nose on a cold morning on the first day of school.
