I realy love those old monuments! I know to some younger people oil pumps did kind of become a symbol of pollution and destruction from the 70s, but to me they are a representation of early progress and hard work made by the past generation and also a proof of that tecnology can be made to last for generations. In the part of the world where i live the crude oil is to scarse to realy be worth pumping up other than for very special purpose, but i like the idea of being independent and self-sustaining with crude oil, i wish i could do that too on my property, bu we don't hawe any limestone or shiffer ground in this area so all prospecting here would probably be a dead end, however i did found traces of gold...

Definitely a monument to a day gone by. I'm trying to preserve as much of this stuff as I can. We both know that in another 20 or 30 years it will all be gone.

@@Cast_Iron_Curiosities Same thing where i live. Luckily there where a few enthusiasts that managed to save a few locomotives, but that is pretty much all. A few of my friends where recreating parts of a 1940-60s gasoline station interior, back then it seems like the smaller American oil export companies played a much larger part of the market in northern Europe, then most of it disappeared in the 60-70s. I guess they where bought up by larger companies. Back in the very early days, i think the 1920s or so, there was an actual oil tanker line from Sweden that picked up crude oil from the North American east coast (at least that's what i heard and the ship was still preserved when i was a kid, it was definitely a tanker built for crude oil, but i am not sure for which line she was originally built, if it was the West or the north east lines) with at least one for the time full size tanker in traffic for the harbor refinery in southwest here, as i heard there was a smaller refinery far up north as well, but i did not manage to figure it out if that was just a place for storage or if there actually where any larger facilities.

The equipment is built for the elements. The well owner may put a roof over the engine but there will not be another building built. They definitely are relaxing to listen to.

A new owner purched the well and wanted the building removed. They considered it a safety hazard. No new building will be built, the well will continue to be produced.

Is the well staying in service? Are they building another building? I would hate for that cool old engine to just be exposed to the elements.

The well is going to continue to be pumped. No other building will be put up as today's pumpers find them to be death traps because if something was to go wrong you limit your places to exit.

I never knew people had their own crude oil pumps on their land.(I live in the PNW) what do y'all do with the oil?

Here in the states, wells can be privately owned and the oil is sold to outfits that will collect the crude from the owner and refine it further.

I don't own the well unfortunately, was just able to aquire the building. You are correct in your statement that the well still does produce and is pumped once or twice a week I believe.

This makes no sense. Please explain. It's a working pump and the building protects it from the weather. What are you doing?

The person that owns the well wants the building removed. They conside them a safety hazzard. The dilapidated state of the building and the building only having one exit point if something was to go wrong and the pumper needed to get away from the engine/jack has only one escape route. The engines are sealed and have no problem sitting out in the elements. I'm saving the building from getting pushed over by a backhoe or dozer and moving it to my property to re erect it as a display of a 1920ish oil well site. I have 2 more videos that go along with this one that further show and explain what I am doing.

@@Cast_Iron_Curiosities thank you. Perhaps you can add that to the descriptions of your videos. Sounds like you are creating a living history village of sorts. Look up "Old Bethpage Village" on Long Island, NY. They relocate buildings for preservation.
