Kuldip Kumar staying in Kangra District in Himachal Pradesh sold his cow, which was his only source of income. He sold the cow to purchase a mobile phone so that his two children could study online. Kuldip said that after schools shut down in March, his children, who are in Class 4 and Class 2, could not continue with their studies. All their classes shifted online and they were not able to study because they did not have a smartphone. Kuldip was told by one of the teachers of the school, that if he wanted his children to continue studying, he had to buy a smartphone. He then approached many Banks for a loan of Rs 6,000 but no one helped him due to his poor financial condition. In the end, he was forced to sell his cow for Rs 6,000. With this money he bought a smartphone for his children. Kuldip, his wife and two children, live in a mud hut. He said he even approached his village Panchayat but no one helped him.
