Mickey Jones - beyond compare and his brilliance heard by so few. The Manband - a force untold.

What a great piece of rock music. And almost certainly played differently every time over the aeons. Wales´s no 1 band of all time,

Less than 8000 views, should be so many more - and a couple of voters that dont like it - fair enough, their choice. Born in 57, i have seen most of the acknowledged great guitarists, many back in their prime, not their latter day shadows. Mickey Jones - unique, avantgarde, sees it different from the rest and utterly brilliant. Never forgotten in my lifetime.

yes.... they are still playing live in my mind's eye, 'specially their gigs at Feltham Rocks

Full marks for posting this. The Zappa reference is nice, but maybe he wouldn't have had the generosity and vision to embliss a surreal-nearly 20 minute sharing riff-trip with guys so equally tallented? Well, possibly. No playground hair-pulling provocation intended ;). Time for a crusty anecdote? Not long after Greasy Truckers double LP came out I lent it to a long-time mate and utter Bowie fan. Odd that, haven't had it back since. Earlier this year, In Camborne, Cornwall, I came across a un-reconstituted 'Head-Shop' run by a wonderful guy who could hardly move about for racks stupendously stacked with vinyl. Soon found 'Truckers' and off we went zimmer-frame stumbling down amnesia lane recalling Brum in late 60s/early 70s - Especially Mothers. Happy daze. Off tomorrow for Home Of Metal/Sabbath reprise exhibition at BMAG. ps - used to sneak in to Earth/Sabbath gigs in 69/70 help carrying their gear. Keep on the goodness gentle folk. Oh, by the way, I'm one of the few who saw Hawkwind and The Doors at the same gig - twice...sorry, Nurse has my medication. x JK

Two wonderful guitarists with very different but complimentary styles: Micky was lyrical and astonishingly musical as well as inventive.... Deke (Roger) was a blinding slide player also described once (accurately!) as a 'precussion guitarist'... a description he was pleased to accept. Pile-driving bass and drums completed the 1990s incarnation of this extraordinary band. Deke was also a talented lyricist and wry observer of life as a rocker. Read his books for an over-the-shoulder view of being inside the band.

As I recall this track was originally entitled Spunk Box, Pye, the bands then record label told them they can't call it that, the title would have to be changed. So they changed it to Spunk Rock, the band obviously didn't change the offending word.

It's a pity they never found a good drummer after pugwash. Saw them with Terry once in the 90s, that wasn't good. Then twice with this dude which was awful. Gave up going to see them after that.
