When I joined the workforce as a lowly teenage apprentice engineer, the old soaks would often shake their heads and tell me that I had been born far too late. They said that I had missed all the fun of the 1960's and 70's and that they felt sorry for me having to put up with the women's liberation movement and what they saw as feminist foolishness. Just as they knew I would, I dismissed them at the time as I thought girls were the best thing ever invented. I remember one of them telling one of the other apprentices that the reason he wasn't learning anything new was that his head was already full of quote, 'hairy triangles'. Women have absolutely no idea how much of a debt they owe to teenage hormones, it is in my opinion by far their greatest source of power. Now that I am getting old myself, I fully understand what those old men were telling me. I in turn now feel sorry for the young men of today. As I watch the female degeneracy continue, I can now fully appreciate that women have been on a downhill slide towards perdition since before I was born.

I'm a bit perturbed at the first fella bringing up the modesty issue by using the relationship between a father and daughter in the context of an adult romantic couple. That's...no. two consenting adults and a parent and child are two completely different things. why would he ask it that way? A father is supposed to protect, guide and raise his children to the best of his ability and prepare them for the world. Part of that Protection, yes, includes teaching their child about how to present oneself to the public and how that may attract wanted and unwanted attention. However, a romantic couple -and I am assuming we're talking about two consenting adults here -does not have and should not have that same dynamic. Yes, while there is push and pull and while you should have a mutual respect for each other, you should not treat your romantic partner like your child or replacement parent. I'm more inclined to agree with the 1st woman, but I don't think that the way she responded was the best. If you're put on the spot like that you're going to say the first thing which comes to mind. If your partner/significant other/boyfriend/girlfriend is uncomfortable with how you dress then absolutely you should discuss it, but not in front of a camera and not while you indirectly insult your partner.

The mother is the greatest example to her kids. The father asking his wife to dress modestly is a 'remove the problem at its roots' solution. There's perversion from other men that one cannot predict which a man may try to 'protect' his wife from. A woman can certainly speak about what her husband wears, you hear all too often about wives buying their husbands' clothes. Not a problem. Your partner can be viewed as an extention of oneself in the most idealistic sense. So, why not honour the thought process behind it, ask and understand the intentions of what is requested. When you're indoors in your own home, do whatever you want, but when your outdoors where the risk of everything is higher.... Follow the one that is trying to protect you and make it easier for them to do so.

Perhaps I misinterpreted the "his girl" bit but my point still stands that familial relationships and romantic relationships shouldn't be compared to each other. If, as a couple, one of you presents in a way that causes concern or discomfort to your other half then the best course of action is to broach that topic in a rational manner and discuss it. Again, I don't wholly disagree with what the woman is saying. We have the freedom to dress how we like. However, with thar freedom comes the understanding that there are some who will treat us in a certain way if we wear certain clothes. And a part of utilising that freedom is also accepting that fact and the consequences of it.
