Man tortured in north St. Louis County basement dies, wife and daughter recovering from injuries

A 76-year-old man who relatives say was brutally tortured in the basement of his north St. Louis County home has now died. In July, police arrested the man's own son, who they say held his father captive along with his mother and sister.

It reads like the sisters knew this lowlife was living off his parents in every way,. He had no place but there in their home to stay and in this hated his sisters who wanted him out. This in trying to protect their parents from elder abuse in his anger, rage, sick mind he targeted his parents ti get back at his sisters,his parents who may have been taking their advice. So the sisters thought if anyone he would target them, nay have verbally many times voiced this with none of them thinking he would ever do this to their parents. With them it was about him having a place to stay for free , the food they provide, the heat and air and throwing his weight around like it was his house .

She said she tried to help her parents, maybe she did tell them it wasn't a good idea for their son to live with them. Looks like they over looked his troubled mind, and probably thought they would be safe with their daughter being there but she let her guard down. When theres issues like that in the family other children don't want to get involved. Salute to the father for his service, he survived all types of challenges and then his own son does this, he shouldn't have had to endure this type of abuse, praying for the mother and daughter to have a complete recovery.

I'd say aggravated 1st degree. He did this over a period of time torturing his father, beating and stabbing him in the eye. He had plenty of time for cool reflection, during which time he could have summoned EMS for help for his father and other family members. But he decided not to and continue with his serious physical abuse, which a reasonable person would know would lead to death.
