I honestly think it's gone beyond balanced views. There's no excuses anymore for Ten Hag. He can't be defended. This is his team, and we see another performance whereby we are royally taken apart by a far better coached side. Since Wolves on the opening day of last season (bar maybe a handful of games), we have setup and played exactly like that. Easy to play against, easy to play through, no protection for the back 4, tons of shots against, adn a manager that flat out refuses to accept it's an issue.

I am not a Man Utd fan but after having watched the replays, I cannot see how the second goal is Casemiro's fault. He was the last one holding the ball but got knocked off and Liverpool took possession. There were 6 Man Utd players behind to stop the play of 3 Liverpool attackers and they didn't do their job. It seems to be a habit of the Man Utd fanbase to single out individuals and make them the scapegoats for losses. No one talks about the failure of the offence to score a single goal in a home match.

And don't forget about the 3rd goal too. Mainoo got caught in the same situation that Casemiro's in when he try to pick a pass as the lone pivot while their wingers, striker, the no.10 (Bruno), and Collyer who's supposed to be a part of the double pivot somehow finds himself away from Mainoo while drifting forward in the 10 position. And Mainoo have Liverpool's 3 man midfield hounding him at his every move in which caused that mistake to happened. Not to mentioned the fact that Amad who comes in around the last 20 minutes of the game has the second most touches in the penalty box behind Salah is baffling to me. The guy's been playing good and yet Ten Hag puts him on the bench in a must-win game against United's arch rivals?? If anything, Ten Hag should deserves more stick going his way than Casemiro cuz they played the way they were because of his setups and tactics (or lack thereof)

Yes but losing the ball for the second goal was about his 6th mistake. It's not just man united fans saying casimiro was shocking. He was hooked at half time with good reason. His confidence was shot and he needed saving. It's not just a case of man u fans scapegoating him. He was genuinely awful and cost him team goals.

Playing a 4-2-4 is tactically crazy. Kobbie and Casemiro are given the responsibility to cover an unrealistic amount of ground while also having to build up passes. Bruno needs to play like an actual midfielder and with that there's balance in attack, and in defense... Thats the only thing that's wrong...🤷 Apart from individual mistakes and performances

The real test is Arsenal and City , Slot faced an tactically inept united side, the two errors from Casemiro were shocking though and the whole structure fell through its a*s , they chased Ugarte for the last 6 weeks to ultimately be a replacement for Casemiro but left it to the last day of the transfer window to complete the signing and couldn't register him in time to play against Liverpool (Mounts pressing would of helped but hes another problem with his injuries ). If united were serious they would have got him in first straight after the Copa America , Also heard quotes from ETH that Ugarte may need weeks or months to be integrated into the side (I have so many questions about that too ). Ineos wont sack ETH before xmas as the optics would make them look incompetent (having SJR come out and sad that they best possible manager for united ,having opening interview other managers and extended his contract ) . Also I have to add that Fred was a underrated partner to Casemiro in case first season he was there player that cleaned up after case and had the energy to press that allow case to make more risky progressive passes knowing that Fred is his insurance policy if it goes wrong . We saw last season why Fred was actually more important than most thought. The only hope now is that Ugarte who has similar energy levels and better defensive numbers and ability will fill in that area of midfield .

Under Fergie, we played Giggs in the middle.....We won the league with Ando and Cleverly. We won with the Gibson. United midfield has been bad since we lost Scholes and Keane... The problem is the attack no helping. Rashford should never start a game, Gernacho is good but lightweight....This was obvious as Collier, Gernacho and Mainoo were bullied off the ball. We should have kept Amrabat, Fred and Sabitzer who did all the work. The starting 3 upfront should be Bruno, Diallo, Hjolund. Problem is every team trying to play like Pep teams instead of working hard.

Winning the midfield battle has always been key to winning a game, especially in big games. In the older days, it's not uncommon for managers to play an extra central midfielder just for that purpose. Today the game has evolved, you don't need an extra midfielder because players in other positions are more rounded to perform that role during different phases of play. But United's tactics seem to challenge that because instead of packing your midfield, we relied on 1 man while the rest push up. That's a bit suicidal isn't it. Now, we don't know if that's ten Hag's instruction or the players lack of tactical intelligence. But it happened too often, 3 times at least, all leading to goals conceded, that this tactic looks intentional on ten Hag's part.

ETH has only been at United for 2 seasons, not 3. And he didn't walk into a stable team like Slot did... When ETH arrived it was an absolute mess, Rangnick commented a few months before that the team needed "open heart surgery". But I'd argue the club needed it, not just the team. And this has only just been started over the last few months. The problem is really that the team is inconsistent, not that they are bad. For example United beat Liverpool a few months ago, but then just barely scraped a win against Coventry, but won and drew against City in the last 2 meetings But the could lost 7-0 to City next week if they played them. They need to figure out how to be consistent, and that takes time.

Well obviously starting Garnacho United had the intention to play him in behind. Which was clearly shown before the first Liverpool goal only for Bruno to be blocked by Anthony Taylor. Which is just pure coincidence and luck for Liverpool. For then Casemiro to actually make such a grave mistake is just completely unheard of. If you look at Liverpool's structure at that moment. If the ball goes over to Rashford or Dalot it's a really good chance for United as Trent had to stick centrally to cover for Konate which was behind Zirkzee at that moment. So for me the whole game came down to individual performances and luck/unluck at crucial moments. What I would've like to see from United in this game was some resilience. When they went 1-0 down they still had chances to come back into the game. Just lacked quality on the ball to create big chances. Rashford had alot of space in behind but the passes were always to poor. Zirkzee treated the ball like a bomb at times. That should change when they are getting more fit and settled.

Shay Given is 100% wrong. The board have been ridiculously proactive with 7 signings made and close to 15-20 of the deadwood sold or loaned out. Rome wasn’t built in a day. In the words of Roy Keane, relax. We’ve got Ugarte now and 35 games left. Let’s see what happens. We couldn’t guarantee Ugarte wouldn’t take us into PSR/FFP disrepute, so we had to sell before we could buy. You would be criticising the board in equal amounts if we’d have fallen foul of ffp regulations 3 years down the line wouldn’t you?

No he's not wrong. Yes this summer has been much better in terms of transfer execution but they could have done better by bringing in the DM target earlier on in the window. Everyone knew by the end of last season that the midfield was the biggest problem. This was the priority position to fill from day1. This should have been the first signing of the window to give the team a good base to start the season. They essentially gambled on 9 points or more by waiting till the last day. They could have just paid the previosly agreed fee for Amrabat if they knew they were going to wait this long fot the priority target. Ugarte alone isnt enough anyway. Yes, they have to take some blame.

Casemiro was shocking I understand the criticsim he is getting and it is fair. However, I don't believe it is all down to his age. He plays in a two man midfield with a 10 in Bruno who spends more time in every other area of the pitch other than in the midfied. He never drops back into a three to help. He presses going the other way and it creates more spaces. People forget that when Casemiro played at Madrid he played in a three man midfield. Modric never played as a ten. They played Casemiro and Kroos as 6's with Casemiro being the destroyer and Kroos the passer, with Modric as the 8 being more creative higher up. Either Bruno needs to play as Modric did as a slightly deeper 8, or he has to drop Casemro and play Ugarte. In my honest opinion I do not believe Ugarte will solve the issues, I think he will be exposed just as Casemiro is. Even Mainoo has to be more disciplined, I see him popping up all over the place too, very talented lad but positional sense isn't great and he is not the most mobile. It is easy to point the finger all at Casemiro and absolve Mainoo of any responsibility (Like a certain Utd fan channel). If Utd decide to keep playing Bruno so high up I would actually play Casemiro with Ugarte, he would have to do less running and wouldn't be exposed as much. Mainoo also needs to be in and out the team. He is too young in my opinion to be expected so much of

No. Casemiro just doesnt have the legs anymore to be that protective cover in front of defence. He did at Madrid but i guess they saw he was slowing down and were happy to ship him to United. He could be useful still as an 8 though in this stage of his career. But playing him and mainoo together is like playing 2 8's in deep midfield which leaves the team very exposed. Completely agree with playing Ugarte with Case. Case and Mainoo can rotate in that position.

Modern football is based around midfield dominance where full backs move up or forwards move back to create overloads. Man United are the only 'top' team who are stripping the midfield and leaving a massive hole between defense and attack. Casemiro is used to playing in a three with Modric and Kroos. No wonder he is struggling trying to protect Macguire, Johnny Evans and the like. Ten Hag is the problem, and Ugarte is set up to fail straight from the off.

Painful to watch game as a Utd fan. After 3-0, I just switched off my TV. But, really good performance by the management IMO. And sticking by ETH for now, is also the better decision. You don't gain anything by short-termism. Even Liverpool under Klopp didn't win jack shit in the first 3 years. And lets all agree Klopp > ETH. I really think Utd are going to aim for top 4 for the next 2 years atleast, which means fans like me will have to go through more pain, but after that, we should see a way better team overall, which doesn't depend on managers to play good and win titles.

Realistically… Like most players, they need 1 season to adapt to epl. He won’t be any saviour this season! He would have been slaughtered on the pitch against Liverpool anyway.
