Law and Greavsie. Two of the finest forwards/strikers ever.

Absolutely Steven. These 2 players were fantastic and both sadly missed out on playing in potentially what would have been their greatest match, Denis (European Cup Final) and Jimmy (World Cup Final). That said, they performed year after year and scored many goals on pitches that were dreadful and against opponents that took you out and seldom got spoken to never mind booked. The players today do not know how lucky they are.

Law was electric!....Greaves...unique and a genius! Both could easily play in the modern game. Law played most of his Man United career on one leg due to a persistent knee injury. Great players.

Sign of a top player is when he also plays well for his country. Denis was top class for club and country! The one and only King.

Only just this evening I saw Messi score a great goal against Croatia. But some of these goals on this footage were just as good and I was blessed to see many of them live. Old Trafford has never seen talent like this for ages but we live in hope. Thanks for putting this on. So many good memories.

What impressed me was that they all played well despite the atrocious conditions!

Loved Denis’s humour off the field as well, one times he’s with the Scotland squad, and he’s walking with wee Jimmy Johnstone, Jimmy turned to Denis and said, “I can’t keep up”...Denis reply’s in full Scottish vigour, “not concerned!” Haha, still makes me laugh that, great days. As good as best in my opinion.

Lawman, good with both feet ,tremedous spring in his legs quick and fearless , defenders didn't take prisoners back then Denis was only about 5ft 9in and 10st 7oz ,but he could out jump much taller players and was never intimidated "if someone kicks you kick them back or they'll keep on kicking you" he said," flower of Scotland when will we see your like again" probably never but we can always re-visit 1967 Scotland at wembley against world champs on YT ,Law ,Baxter ,Bremner etc what a team .

Had an argument with my supervisor, Derek York, re the great players of the 60s. He was backing John Charles and I Law. It was settled when I showed him the cover of one of World Sports issues. Charles and Law near goal, going up for a header. The shorter man, out jumped Charles by quite a few inches and won the heading duel; I believe in that match (Scotland -Wales) Law was center forward and Charles dropped back to center half to cover Law.

Much as I love Denis, that 'goal' against AC Milan was definitely not '2 feet' over the line! Looking carefully at it, the ref was, for me anyway, probably right - just that tiny bit hadn't crossed - rather like that goal in the 2022 World Cup.

Tavy@ no chance!!! Law was the best player i have ever seen in the air, i thinck he could jump above 2 and a half feet high to then bullet in those headers was awe some. But by 1969, 70. I thought he wasnt the same player just like charlton and crerand and at least 5 others. George best was right in what he said. Sir matt had to clear out the old boys and make way for younger great ones and he didnt. In a way he just wanted me to win him the european cup then to hell with the rest. Best wasnt wrong and a very wise clever knoledgeable man about football and what goes on and whats needed and whats not needed. George couldv been a football presenter wich is harder than being a commentator wich is really hard to do believe it or not, it sounds and looks easy becouse they talk about what happend in a game for 5 to 10 minutes, but you need to know all the players on both teams and whos been injured for a while and is back and who is still injured and who is suspended and who is going to be. You need to know everything about the players. And george made it sound so easy but thats what george would talk about even in a pub becouse its what he loves. And he would hear so much. Plus on his saturday sky soccer panel after a few month doing that ye basicly knew every player and what was happening from A to Z and george was on that show for 10 years. 4 of them a thinck just watching all the big english games and switching from game to game. They all loved it. George, rodney marsh, charlie nicholas, frank mclintock, alan mullery sometimes, and there were others who would do the show when the main panel where having a break or had to go some where else. But george best was the greatest player in the world from 1966 to 1972 even pele didnt come close. In 1971 he showed the world with all those magical goals he scored that he really was the greatest. Forgett mexico 1970. Just watch this now, he scored about 5 brilliant goals against gordon banks that year and made him look very stupid, especialy in march 1971 his second goal in that game against banks was just genius, he had banks rolling around in the mud as best walked round him after dipping his left shoulder and banks bought the dummy and dived at nothing but by then george waltzed round him and passesd it into the net. His first goal was magic in how he did it. He got a long pass from bobby about 30 yards out then got into the box and whent up a gear then i noticed the defender tried to trip him up by clipping his heel and as best rode the tackle and was now 8 yards out and at his left side of the end of the 6 yard box and banks came out to block it and some how in the same movement as he kept his balance he just side footed the ball into the roof of the net lol. Banks got up and couldnt face the main stand where the tv cameras were. He thought as he was on the muddy ground again, how did he manage to do that there while of balance and side footed it like a shot into the roof of the net? Banks said george was just a footballing genius !!!!!!!!!!!!

What could law do that george best couldnt? But george could and did score goals that denis wouldnt have even thought of let alone being able to do it. And am not suprised at charlton saying denis is the best forward. Its known bobby knew george best was better but just wouldnt admitt it. Ffs bobby you are two faced its unbelieveable. Next week bobby will say it was wullie morgan.

George was a wonderful player but wasted his talent. Denis didn’t. Who was better? Who cares. Wasn’t it wonderful they played together along with Bobby. Three real world class players. One thing Denis could do was seemingly hang high in the air. I never saw George do that but George could beat the whole opposition if he wanted. As a goalscorer Denis was up there with the very best.
@MohamedAli-xu3uw3 жыл бұрын
Rodger Hunt was better
@davidmoss42803 жыл бұрын
Hunt had a higher goal ratio but not all at the highest level (played in the second division) whereas the Lawman scored more goals and they were at the highest level, that makes DENIS the king.
