@fletchbundy If I recall, and they've also talked about this in numerous other interviews, because this episode was covered a lot for how infamous it was, the director for this episode was new and didn't know he was allowed to interfere. The producers usually would set up obstacles anyway, and as far as he knew he was supposed to stay in the background. So I think I remember him saying that he thought it was just another thing they set up for the sake of the show until he found out that wasn't the case and the owner just went rogue.

Because they didn’t do anything wrong. Capsaicin (the oil in peppers that causes the reaction in your mouth) isn’t deadly and can’t actually hurt you unless you’ve got an allergy to nightshades or an undiagnosed aneurysm. As a matter of fact, there are health Benefits to consuming it. This fat douche reacted this way to it because he was on camera and wanted to seem cool to his fans. I wouldn’t have thought any less of him if he had just admitted that it was too hot for him. Ghost peppers hurt to eat if you’re not used to it.

Thats my nephew in the yellow shirt in the Munchies episode. I use to eat at Munchies. Great after the bar place to go. I remember being like "Wow" Munchies took him down. But the disappointment of the cheat later on. But thats Sarasota..even Munchies was a cool place to go back in the day. But now my hometown is a freakin overcrowded tourist trap.

I enjoyed watching Adam in that show so much, but I am glad that he moved on. He has talked about what that show did to him. One thing that sticks out is him saying he ran stairs for 2 hours one day as just one of his workouts. And that was to maintain his heavy physique. He hated it. I think he only ate once a day too.

I feel like he saw my comment about the munchies cafe and that's how he found out because I was working there at the time and a long time after it happened I explained to him in a comment what they did. I can't think of anyone else who actually told him. I was pretty pissed they did that to him. Especially since if it wasn't for Adam that place would be closed by now. It's really gross in that kitchen, it's been a long time since I worked there but I doubt anything changed.

I went to the Sarasota Munchies for my B-Day a few weeks after all this happened. I saw that Adam's photo was already up on their wall of shame. I agree, he was totally set up. When I see powdered extremely hot spice, I don't want to see the challenge. Use real peppers or simply don't do the challenge. Extremely hot powders are a cheat for the restaurant to win. Some of the very hot powdered wings, as well as other very hot powder covered foods, I've seen on these channels, are just awful. I think, if you are so determined to use a very hot powder, you should cover it with something like honey or butter, and cook it into the food. Extremely hot powdered challenges are the absolute pits. A self respecting restaurant would simply refuse to do them. Use real peppers first off or if you do use very hot powders, cook them in or simply don't use very hot powders. Much respect to Adam and Casey. They always brought the entertainment, no matter what.

No joke honest to all 3 weeks ago My da in law gave me tiny bottles of hot sauces like a variety pack, one of them being ghost pepper. I love spice I can handle spice but this time was different... My throat started to close up I couldn't breathe couldn't speak was vomiting like crazy, I rushed into a cold shower and my wife found me passed out when she got gome. Wound up in the hospital. Accidentally gave myself capsicum poisoning.. looked at the bottle and in the tiniest dam print said concentrate... I had no idea.
