I like how the only person encouraging him to do it is the one guy that is also in the hiring process. You’ll both soon see that even though it’s a fun job at times and can be rewarding at times… you’ll catch more shit than a porta-Jon cleaner. The best advice I can give both of you, having already done the whole police thing is, watch your back. And I don’t just mean around the criminals. You need to watch your back even closer for the people in your own dept because they’ll stab you even faster than the savages will. Get everything in writing from you high command or have it on audio recording or something… basically make sure you have a record showing that you did what you did because your Capt, major, Lt, etc, told you to do it. Also make really good friends with the best attorney you can during your court days. I became good friends with the best attorney in my city and he got me out of stuff where a Sgt was fishing with dynamite, trying to get something on anyone he could so he’d look good to the chief for a promotion.

Also, once you hit your 4th year, assuming you stay in that long, take a real long hard look at everything and figure out if this is what you want for the rest of your life.
