If no objects are selected from the test sales table, will the row level security still gets applied. Suppose if we want that any object user takes in the report query, for example Product from products table, he should be seeing products related to him.

Good question. In your case, you can select filters to be applies on whole universe. Users can select any object and row-level security would be imposed.

aroundBI I think generally this would be the requirement for reports. Could you please explain with your experience how row level security is advantageous over row level security?
