Excellent lecture. Thanks!. Im just a GP not a Hepatologist but recent education Ive attended has discussed the flawed nature of the J shaped curve mentioned in regards to drinking levels. When these studies were re reviewed it was found socio economic status was a confounding variable that had not been considered. Once this had been adjusted for in multiple studies worldwide it was found there were no health benefits to drinking 1-2 drinks. The supposed health benefits were due to people of higher economic status being more like to drink 1-2 drinks daily and these people had better access to good nutrition, education, exercise etc. The data didn't suggest any harm though.

So, if a person has had AAH, can they ever drink again and still be healthy? I had this and was hospitalized for 6 days, but got all my numbers back to normal within a few weeks. Then I quit drinking for almost 2 years. It seems like I can't ever enjoy anything and have nothing to look forward to. If only other drugs were legal...

@@sagarthechamp and when I say I got my numbers within normal range, I'm referring to AST, ALT, ALKPHOS, BUN, ALBUMIN, BILIRUBIN, POTASSIUM, MAGNESIUM, GLUCOSE, ANION GAP, etc.

My Daughter is in ICU at the moment with malnutrition, pancreatitis and Alcoholic hepatitis. My question is My Daughter isn't jaundice, is that common for alcoholic hepatitis?
