Seizures associated with sleeping present unique challenges for patients and families. Sucheta Joshi, MD, Neeraj Kaplish, MD, and Nicholas Beimer, MD discuss common epilepsy syndromes that feature nocturnal seizures, the various risks and consequences of these seizures, and special treatment strategies. They will also discuss the relative value of various safety measures and approaches to detecting and responding to nocturnal seizures. NOTE: the first two minutes of the panel discussion were cut off. When the video starts, Dr. Kaplish is responding to the question "Can you describe this relationship between seizures and the sleep-wake cycle and what it is about certain stages of this cycle that makes seizures more likely?"
