(Sorry if anything’s missing I mean well - comment disappeared as the next video started playing, had thankfully copied and saved part of the original comment so fingers crossed that this here hopefully quote unquote does the job so to speak and yeah). Hello Kajol, Sorry I’m self conscious but I mean well (I’ve been avoiding people and social media related websites over the years while in hospital, on the streets and/or in the care system for depression related problems). I don’t have an excuse for this belated comment/message attempt but rightly and/or wrongly I came across the online videos you’ve been working on over the years about a week or two ago I think and/or a few days ago. Sorry I’m feeling clumsy but I mean well. I don’t normally comment on videos but have specifically logged into the KZbin system to comment specifically on your KZbin channel. I don’t want to jinx it or anything but I get the impression that your KZbin channel has a lot of merit for anyone and anyone remotely interested in any kind of consulting, white collar job or any kind of graduate work related guidance in general. I feel that your channel’s especially good for the hard working youngsters from the more disadvantaged, poorer and blue collar backgrounds who traditionally don‘t have the guidance, mentoring or information needed to be able to break into the world of internships, the city or graduate work in general. I can’t make any promises or anything like that but I’ve just spoken to a youngster among my relatives who said that they’re feeling interested in consulting after having finished their masters and have recommended your KZbin channel to them. I’ve also recommended them to comment on your videos as well if they sincerely like the information in them and have also tried to explain how and why those comments can be so highly sought after by those in the social media world. I can heart on heart say that having had access to your KZbin channel during my years of trying to get internships in the city could have definitely helped out in a meaningful way. I myself got burnt over the years and I don’t want to jinx it or anything but I feel that you’ve got a lot of excellent potential to make the best of your life in this world and help a lot of people in a meaningful way while you’re at it - be it with or without your target school, big name firm or KZbin channel so fingers crossed! Also, sorry if this comes across as patronising or anything but, I hope that you’re safe so to speak during lockdown times. In case you’re wondering and/or it helps as some kind of peace of mind Kajol, things aren’t ideal per say (e.g. people died and stuff in the literal sense over the years before lockdown took over society) but I’m safe (and now seem to feel desensitised to various things). Also just remembered Kajol, I get the impression that on top of the information in the video, you’ve also made a solid effort on the personal presentation, video editing and eloquent communication side of things. Also really well done on the custom thumbnails, video text and recommended links as well - I’ve taken print screens of video descriptions with recommended consulting books and sent them to the younger relative I recommended your KZbin channel to. Also Kajol, I appreciated the sincere authenticity in the video itself e.g. about forming human bonds at work, avoiding taking on too many things at once and the idea of hopefully getting to be comfortable at work. Last but not least Kajol, in case I don’t ever get to say this to you in person then I want you to know that I’m proud of you so to speak Kajol - because you’re one of us from summer school! Keep up the good work Kajol! Raza :) UNIQ Summer School/Physical Sciences taster course/Lady Margaret Hall buddy from 2011.

Raza!!! Oh my gosh, it's been so so long. How have you been? I hope all is good now and you're feeling stronger and healthier 😊 Thank you so so much for going out of your way to log in and leave me this incredibly kind message. You've articulated yourself so well so please do not feel 'clumsy'! Thank you so much, your words mean the world to me and hopefully your family member enjoys it. Here's hoping no matter your background, status or ethnicity, we all have the same opportunities and access to information. I'm trying to not get burnt out as well to be honest, handling this with a full time job is difficult so I try to take my breaks and re-charge. I hope you're not burnt out any more and learnt to deal with it. I'm still learning! Not patronising at all and so sorry to hear about the losses you've faced. I hope things are better now and you'er on the mend. Say it in person :P Let's grab a coffee after lockdown. Will be good to catch up properly! Not sure if you're on socials but let's exchange numbers - email me at kajol@igniteconsulting.net :) Gosh the Summer School was so long ago - I'm glad you got in touch! Physical Sciences was fun wasn't it :P

@@KajolPhadnis Hello Kajol, Sorry for the belated reply. I don't have an excuse for the lateness and I'm sorry Kajol. I've been feeling self conscious from various things, I myself don't celebrate Christmas and had the idea of replying on Christmas day/the festive season in general but the idea was to try to avoid spamming your notifications at the time. Then had flare ups in fatigue from health problems and then have been going through the coronavirus. Okay, the idea/attempt at replying. Sorry in case it comes across in a bad way. I mean well. Idea's to potentially reply to things using the work email you've listed at, around or near the bottom of your comment reply I think so fingers crossed! Hello Kajol! Things haven't been and still aren't feeling 100% per say so to speak - it's a sensitive time for but I'm safe so fingers crossed and also hope that if nothing else that you're safe too or at least not feeling too burnt out, depressed or too anxious let's say. Thank you for the encouragement there - I aprpreciated it Kajol. Apparently the comment put together by me got pinned on the KZbin system by so hopefully if nothing else it's some kind of an indicator that it's your good books so to speak and yeah. Fingers crossed on the topic of social mobility (sorry it's been a sensitive subject for me over the years and yeah). Fingers crossed that you don't end up feeling burnt out (it can feel hard to properly recover from apparently and yeah). Oh thank you. Oh sorry I don't really know how to respond and/or exchange numbers. It seems to be a sensitive subject for me. I don't really feel used to trying to catch up with people - normally I'd talk to people if something bad happens so to speak (it's how I usually met various people over the years I felt). Okay, I have an idea, idea's to try to email you over the work email and go from there so to speak so fingers crossed! Idea's to send the mobile number for me through that email. Yes, summer school was years ago. You're welcome! I feel like you're effectively acting as practise for me to try to reconnect with people who know of me from before so fingers crossed! I found it hard to consider myself worthy of a place on the UNIQ summer school - my confidence hasn't been 100% but yes it's something worth trying to attend for anyone interested and ends up getting invited to go. If summer school applications don't work then it's not the end of the world so to speak - there's ways around it with shadowing schemes, taster courses and other outreach programmes in the field of widening participation. Oh and also happy belated new year and hope that you're safe so to speak. Idea's to email after this so that I don't forgot Kajol so fingers crossed! Also appreciated the smiley face plus tongue sticking out face (and/or equivalents). Raza =)

In a nutshell 1. Do the right things that'll get you promoted. 2. Don't focus too much on promotion, its the learning that ultimately matters. 3. Don't put all eggs into one basket, work with many different leaders. 4. Be authentic even in your workplace. 5. Don't be a people pleaser, learn to say no. 6. Don't go chasing the senior leadership, make meaningful friendships even with colleagues at the same level. 7. Have a professional opinion about the projects you work on, you never know if it is game-changing. 8. Importance of work-life balance.

@@KajolPhadnis 1. There’re people who just plain standout and shine in everything.. sometimes I’m sick with jealousy and it significantly affects my attitude and quality of work 2. How to build trust with your boss or team after it’s been broken .. like after you’ve had a season of poor performance how to pick yourself back up in a way that can make your people build trust in you 3. Being a woman around men lol! I know it sounds small but I’ve seriously struggled with being either too serious, too feminine or just too young! #millennial 4. We’re in a high pressure environment all year, and I’m not always motivated to work or get things done… how do you ensure your performance is not severely influenced by moods and external circumstances. 5. What are some actual boundaries you can set with your boss… e.g In order to manage my time I have to manage my boss🤣 otherwise she’ll just assume access to me whenever and for whatever.. I hope these opinion points are understandable… I’d appreciate videos on the same ❤️ thanks Kajol

100% agree, Network, learn, understand career progressions, and be true to yourself, but most importantly utilization. I maintained 95% utilization and ended up manager. Its a very difficult career choice but the benefits down the track. A manager cant know everything and relies on their people speaking up. Did not understand that until I was a manager. Speaking up is very important. Flew 12 hours a week and did 50 hours work on top of that. Burnout is something we all go through. Hope you are doing well.

Great advice though one point where we may not always agree would be the one where you advise against keeping business and life separate. As someone working at Accenture who has from time to time worked on shared accounts with Deloitte (not as uncommon as it sounds in consulting) I actually feel that compartmentalizing who I am at work separately from the man I am when I'm at home with my family and friends has actually allowed me to set better boundaries, avoid diluting my sense of self and avoid tainting my professional reputation with my quirky nature and sense of humor that I know for a fact would do me more harm than good in the politics of the consulting business. I love my job. Am I a bit fake at work? You bet! I like to think of improv acting as part of the core consulting skillset and it's enjoyable to play a different character.

Thank you very much for sharing this Kajol. It was really insightful. Few suggestions in terms of editing: 1 - It would be great if you can put text as well when you are speaking about a particular point and provide timestamp in the comment section. It just makes visually appealing for the viewers and easy to understand. You have done this in your previous videos. 😊 Btw I really like the thumbnail. 👍

Very dependent which country, what project you're working on. You're working at least 8.30 to 6pm and often don't finish till much later. If there's not much to do you can even finish at 4pm - just dependent on timeliness and work needed to be done!

how much difference is there between management consulting and technology consulting in deloitte?

I think technology consulting sits in management consulting but assuming you mean difference in operations vs technology? There's a big difference in the work you do, the tools you use and the methods

my friend just completed engineering and was placed in deliotte . Its eligibility criteria is 60% aggregate in graduation. After his final year result, short of just 0.29% in aggregate. Is it considerable or should he consider offer to be withdrawn?
