@@PrinceDamienSilves This is incorrect. There is no federal law mandating breaks or meal times. It's down to states and some states like Oklahoma have no such law. The only law regarding breaks is if they are less than twenty minutes they must be paid. And if you do give a lunch it must at least be a 'bone fide' time meaning at least 30 minutes if they're clocking out. And the termination doesn't matter. Majority of the states are at will employment meaning they can terminate at any given moment except for explicitly banned reasons per federal or state. Such as specifically because of race, sex, age, religion, and such. An employer in many states can literally just give no reason and be entirely within legal bounds. And far as unemployment goes that is a big gamble again depending on the state. Some are very aggressive about awarding it and many are pretty aggressive about not rewarding it if the employer gives an ounce of reason. I've seen someone who was fired in Maryland for showing up high as a kite and causing property damage to a customers things and the business get unemployment and the business denied trying to get out of it. Where in Oklahoma I've literally seen the reason given as 'they were lazy' and they failed to receive it. I see a lot of people miss stating the breaking thing a lot. I think it's because company 'policies' often mandate breaks and they've made the mistake of thinking they are legally protected. US is the same country where Florida and Texas banned breaks for outdoor workers on hot days. Lol.
