hmm... you think your eye condition is rare, I was in a Lions Blind Center where there was a small group with like 8 people all with your same condition having a support group, as someone who has a completely different eye condition I have heard of Retinitis Pigmentosa so many times, a friend of mine has the same eye condition... seriously among the blind community that is one of the more common eye conditions I have heard of. I myself am visually impaired and see well enough that I use a power chair to get around as I am also physically handicapped. I swear I have heard of your eye condition and Glaucoma so so many times especially when it comes to the eye conditions that seniors... people who got diabetes especially. Not to be rude but I guess as a person who is visually impaired I have heard of your eye condition so many many times.

Fibromyalgia sufferer here. I appreciate the sentiment and know people mean well when they say disability shouldn't hold you back, but I am home bound 90% of the time. It's honestly hard to be as positive as this when you are literally in pain all the time and treatment isn't working. How can you mourn your health but not acknowledge "can'ts" and limits? What do I focus on when my hobbies aren't even enjoyable or doable due to pain? I hate to be negative but I need to be realistic too...

I feel your pain. I was diagnosed with fibro a little over a year ago, so I haven't figured this stuff out yet. I'm trying to find new hobbies that I can do and enjoy, but it's so hard. And all that "disability shouldn't hold you back" can be just wishful thinking for lots of us. I feel like it's more comforting and healing for me to recognize that my disability DOES hold me back, and to be sad about that when I need to be, but also to have hope that my life can still be good, even if there are lots of difficult things. I don't have any answers, but I sympathize. Balancing hope with realism is so challenging.

StaceFubar I empathise with you. I have severe ME & I'm in a huge amount of pain daily as a result. I've spent most of my 20s being bed bound or housebound & understand the difficulty of finding things you can do & can enjoy when you are so limited. I don't have any pearls of wisdom I'm afraid, I'm fortunate that I've improved a little recently & can get out the house in my wheelchair a bit more, but when I was spending months at a time trapped in my bedroom, unable to go downstairs, it was hard to find the positives at times. Is there anything you enjoy doing that you can do easily from bed/the sofa? I learnt how to knit when I was at my worst & even though I could only do a little bit at a time & it would take months to finish something, there's always a huge sense of achievement after. I know it's a bit weird from a stranger on the internet but I'm sending love your way :)

lilwhiteindian Not weird at all, I appreciate it 💕 yes, I bought supplies to start learning/practising embroidery but honestly I've just been down and unmotivated the last year or so I haven't done much at all. I'm 27 and I was only just recovering from a bad run mental health wise when I was diagnosed at 23. Meds (which I've been on since i was 20) only just keep my head above water lately. I keep finding myself thinking about relapsing into self harm. Like I should be punished for being a waste of space. 😔 Sorry this is negative, believe it or not I do generally try to be positive. Just feeling stuck. x

Yeahhh all disabilities are not created equal. I have ME, and when other disabled (or abled) people preach that you shouldn't focus on your limits, I just think they have no idea what it's like to be so disabled that you're constantly suffering and limited in every aspect of life. And I don't like when people say "it'll get better" because that's not guaranteed. It's nice to have some hope, but you have to be realistic. And sadly people seem to look down on the sick people who aren't super inspirational and positive.

It's so scary to hear that even in western countries like Canada not all people can get therapy. I'm german, everybody needs to have a health insurance in Germany by law, so everybody can always get therapy without worriyng about any costs. I didn't get along with my parents and tried to kill myself because of it and I might have tried until I succeeded without my psychologist,. Thinking of it, I probably wouldn't have survived living with my parents in a different country...

This is amazing, I am not completely blind but my vision is really bad so I struggled with that my entire life. I have visual processing disorder as well. I started feeling depressed and having suicidal thoughts at 14 because despite how much Liked school it was and is extremely difficult. Nothing that I did was ever good enough for my family, I was bullied by kids at school too but it was the emotional abuse from my family that got to me. I just graduated high school but I'm still struggling with depression. But despite that I'm going to keep moving forward with school and will get into therapy once I'm able to pay for it. Amazing video.

I have been struggling with my mental health due to recent events I went back to self harming and restricting food as a way to cope. I was in therapy but my doctor refuses to refer me for councelling and even if he does the waiting list is so long with the NHS. I struggle a lot with dealing with my disabilities, I have hearing loss, Asperger's Syndrome and a degenerative eye disease causing a loss of vision it's been hard to process all of this and having to accept there's things I can't do anymore or that I need more help than I used to. I'm still a work in progress and hope I can learn to accept myself for who I am. thank you for this video Kati, I love Molly's channel and it's good to know I'm not alone in some of my struggles.

I also have Retinitis Pigmintosa. I'm about to turn 21, and I still have a little usable vision. I still have a hard time sometimes, though, and dwelling on my "disability" can sometimes trigger my depression. I don't know if or when I'll lose the rest of my vision, so that can be scary sometimes. I try to do my best with what I have, though, and I refuse to be left out just because I can't see as well as everyone else.

Hey, I'm new here. I've been struggling with...awful...thoughts and I've had them for years. I'm afraid to tell my parents because then they'll say I'm doing it for attention. They said the same when I uh...self harmed. I've been getting a little better, but its still difficult. I cant see my bf over the summer and I can't even say I love him. (he's helped me so much) and I was bullied at school, I probably will next year. Its summer. I'm afraid of how my parents might react.

i feel that it is just some people really love attention and the stage so thats why they dont mind being on stage they do school plays now as soon as the child starts school but there are still the ones who hate them and never want to be in a school play or talk in public sometimes its because of them but for most peoples its just they dont have that drive they dont want to do that thats why the stand up comedians who are driven to be stand ups its because they love the stage they love the attention they have a story to tell others are like kelly carlin who are just entertainers and she said she is a story teller and enjoys making her audience cry at times she said just to get any reaction and depending on her mood its fun to do that some people cant talk but can sing karaoke in front of other people so it really does seem more like a drive then a fear i had a friend he had no problem doing the school plays he had to present a project to the class and he started to cry because of the fear he had over that it was more stressful to do a class project and talk about it then be up on the stage where he had the lines completely memorized it just always seems to depend on the person i hated the school plays when i was younger because they were always stupid my high school if you were in the plays you didnt have to do homework when i found that out to get out of homework i joined senior year that wasnt the case and i didnt like that but i also had a great drama teacher that year who gave us cheat things so we didnt have to stress to much with having homework and the memorizing the lines being in the play the history teacher max wrote was probably the best and funniest play we did since it was a competition we were in we still had to have homework but we skipped days of school because we had to go to places to preform it was so much fun i had no lines but i was the photographer and i got to use a very old fashion camera it was the best
